changed your life. I know you all watch it. I think Alton Brown has changed my cooking more then anyone else. In simple ways, not in following recipes. I now salt my pasta water generously and rub salt on the outside of my baked potatoes. I look for kitchen appliances that multi task. I try my best not to use salted butter because of that blonde woman from gourmet, can't remember her name. I've bought silpats.

I use one of my mixing bowls to collect my trash as I cook so clean up is easier. I can't remember which show I saw this on though.

Let's see, how has FN changed my life?

I, too, bought the silpats on Sara Moulton's glowing recommendation.

I have a show addction...Good Eats. Even made the them a ring tone on my phone. Belong to a GE yahoo group. Watch the show to see what gadgets I have. No longer buy 'unitaskers', like the smores maker my son wanted, lol.

Went to restaurants recommended on 40 dollars a day.

Purchased lots more cookbooks by show hosts.

Decided to try Olive Oil again (hate olives). Found that I like how it tastes in food.

Have a show to catcall (Iron Chef). Found out that cooking shows can be audience participation.

And I have Comcast to blame...nine years ago, they added the fiber optic upgrade at the apartment I was renting. My DH was amazed that there was tv I was hooked on, lol!

Love that Food Network! Even though I cooked A LOT before it, I now have lots more things to make!

Rachel Ray does that on 30 minute meals :D .

Sadly, the Food Network usually just makes me hungry most of the time :teeth: . Although I have tried a few things.

What's the deal with the salt on the potatoes for baking?

Is "Unwrapped" on The Food Network? I always watch it if I'm channel surfing and I catch it. I've learned lots of useless food trivia from that show.:D

Count me in as one of the food network addicts also! :) I have happily been one since 1994! I told hubby before I made the move in with him he had to have food network well thankfully he did ;) Even my hubby the I can't cook anything man loves to watch it:eek: A few years ago he was trying to impress me with his knowledge of Emeril and said look it is the trifecta! (he meant the trinity) I almost choked on my soda on that one and to this day we laugh about it.:p
But seriously Food network did one huge thing for me and that was made me go for my dream of going to culinary school! How did anyone survive before FN came on the air? I can watch it all day and all night and never get bored.

I love the food network! grinningghost, yes, Unwrapped is on there, and DS and I like to watch it along with Emeril, Good Eats, Iron Chef, etc.

The one thing that I bought because of one of the shows was my mezzaluna. It comes in handy when I wanna chop up a little bit of cilantro for guacamole (and it looks so darned cool, too. LOL).

I am a big fan of the website, too. I've gotten lots of good recipes from there, and always will as long as they have the search feature :D

I used to watch the cooking shows on PBS every Saturday and never learned a thing.

I watch the FN and I have learned soooo much.

I too love Good Eats & 30 Minute Meals as well as Paula's home cooking (I met Paula in Savannah 8 years ago and she is such a wonderful person - just like on her show). I don't think I've ever failed with a recipe I've gotten off their website or in their cookbooks.

I don't know what I would do without it!!

I like watching the cookoff specials as well. I also get a ton of recipes off their website.

Watching the Food Network has definitely made me more adventurous in the kitchen! My husband is constantly testing out recipes from 30-Minute Meals, Paula's Home Cooking, and Good Eats.

I really like how Good Eats teaches the science behind cooking, instead of just saying, "add salt", he explains WHY.

And I have learned not to be afraid of butter, thanks to Paula Deen. Plus, she is just so cute to watch. It's always really funny when she cracks a joke and you can hear the crew laughing!! :)

My husband is an Alton Brown disciple. He loves him. And I must admit I love him too. He taught my husband how to make omelettes. :)

We all love the food channel. It's one of the few channels where we don't have to worry that they will say or show anything that's inappropriate for a 5 yo. I've made many recipes from shows I've seen. At DD's request I enter the lottery for tickets to Emeril and we watched a lot of the cook with your kids shows on this past week. Good Eats is definitely a great way to bring science into every day life. My favorite though has to be 30 min meals, now that's my kind of cooking ;) .

Another family that loves food network!!

Iron Chef is a must... I love Rachael Ray... I kinda watch Alton... if his sister and nephew are on with him LOL. Love Emeril. Just started watching ... (dot dot dot), love unwrapped.... *hehehee*

DS and I have been watching FN for years since he was about 5. He has become quite the gourmet cook at the age of 17 from all these shows.
Our fav. to watch is Iron Chef, anyone else watch this? We tape it with the comcast DVR (just got it last week, we love it..no commercials!)
Has anyone ever ordered some of the foods on Food Finds, we have! I'm just about to order some Ribs from www.corkysbbq.com, they looked yummy, so I thought I'd order some for the family even though I don't eat them!
We love Paula Deen, Rachael Ray, Wolfgang, Ming (cooking with Ming is on another network now), Sara, Emril, Alton Borwn, Barefoot Contessa!
Just about all the shows, we arn't crazy about Bobby Flay though, I don't know why just something about BBQ.

Another Food Network fan here! As a Southern girl living in Wisconsin I LOVE Paula Dean. The show is so fun to watch and she seems to just love cooking. Her enthusiasm is great. $40.00 a day is another great one, as well as 30 minute meals and Cooking Thin. I have tried a lot of recipes from all the shows and have really enjoyed all of them. ::yes::

He's going to make an excellent husband someday. ;)

But it's really great how many teenage boys enjoy cooking these days. The culinary academy at my daughter's high school is FILLED with boys that want to be chefs. And it's an elective!:teeth:

I love the Food Network. My daughter who's 4 and I watch Rachael Ray together. We love her on 30 min meals and $40 a day. I've learned some neat tips from her. When dd was smaller she loved Emeril and all his "bams" lol.

I've actually gotten some great tips and recipes from all the shows on Food Network. The one greatest thing I've probably taken away from viewing is that quality tools and cookware make a big difference in the kitchen. DH urged me to toss the old stuff and get quality things that the chefs use. I balked because of the prices but finally gave in and got ALL CLAD cookware and the best quality HENCKELS knives. Couldn't believe the difference quality cookware made!!! ::yes::

We are all FN fans in our family. Love "Good Eats" and how Alton Brown explains everything. He makes it so fascinating! :) We are also big fans of Emeril and my daughters would love to be an audience member on his show. Rachel Ray is great and fun to watch. This week they had cook with your kids week which I thought was kind of neat.

Oh another show that I catch every once in awhile and like is Semi homemade cooking with Sandra Lee. I've gotten a few good tips there!

:sunny:
