One of the nicest things about being a DVCer is that since we know there'll be another trip soon, we take the time to discover the WORLD outside the parks. Renting a canoe at FW, or playing mini-golf doesn't make us feel "guilty" for not being at a park. Missing Fantasmic, Wishes, or even Illuminations on a visit is no big deal. We'll catch it on the next trip that year.
Even spending time looking around the different hotels and DVC resorts, and maybe leisurely eating lunch at one, doesn't feel like "robbed park time".
DVC has enabled us to make our vacations in WDW LEISURE, as vacations were meant to be all along!
