In comparison from when the other DVC resorts opened, how hard do you think it will be for those of us to stay there in the first year or 2 if it is not our home resort?

I think it's going to be a tough ticket til the new building opens. Then, it shouldn't be TOO hard.

It's good sized, in comparision to many of the other resorts, and that's going to help out. But only about 150 rooms will be open before the new building opens...roughly the size of VWL...and it's a "new resort" that other non-AKV owning DVCer's are going to want to try. So, for awhile, til more rooms open up and the novelty wears off, I think it will be tough. Not impossibly tough, but not easy. Probably a place you'll want to call MS day by day, at opening, to try to book....

I agree, year one will be VERY hard, year two it gets easier.

And conceirge will be practially impossible for both AKV owners and all DVC owners. (what is it five rooms?):rotfl:

Five rooms :happytv: I agree, near impossible!

Anyhow, once the new buildings are done it won't be difficult to book with any amount of planning ahead.... Course my son asked me where we are staying in two weeks, I said Wilderness... he says, Is that the one with the animals? I say no... but that now that resort will become DVC so we can stay there on points, course then he just says, Oh, I thought it already was :joker:

My kid is very confused between Wilderness & AKL!!

I also agree with agree, year one will be VERY hard, year two it gets easier.

I'm trying to think back to when BCV opened. Was that the way it was with that, that it was hard for most people to get ressies the first year, then it got easier? It seemed to me that it wasn't too hard to get into at first (maybe I was just lucky), but it got harder as the years went on (and the word got out). I remember the first February after it had been open, I called for reservations for early December (10 months out). Only 2 resorts were still available-OKW and BCV.

Thanks for the replies folks!

I am hoping that once I get the word that our purchase has officially closed that I will be able to book our new home at VWL for Dec. or January. But I just thought for a wild moment that if there was a chance to book AKV it would be worth looking into. :thumbsup2
