Hello!

I am wondering how difficult it will be to book a 1 Bedroom Standard at BWV for October 2009 because of the new booking policy (booking at start date for entire trip vs booking day by day).

The reason that I am asking is that we are thinking about doing an add on.

50 additonal points would allow us to book a 1 Bedroom Standard for our date needs.

100 points would allow us to book a 1 Bedroom "Premium" view for our dates.

We could add on now for 50 points, we would need to wait to add on until next year for 100 points.

I would of course plan on calling to reserve on the first day that we could but if you all say that it's really hard to get the standard room we will save some more and add on next year.

TIA

Well I am hoping with the new policy it will not be hard. I am planning on booking one too at 11 months. But this is where the new policy makes me nervous. I didn't mind calling day by day to get exactly what I wanted.

At 7 months? Very difficult. There is an October waitlist thread going that has people who got on the list right at 7 months and are still waiting.

At 11 months, you should get it if you call when it's available. I'm going Oct 18 to 24, I booked a 1 bedroom boardwalk view 11 months from checkout date.

Debbie, that is very good to know! I will be going two separate weekend trips and always try for standard or boardwalk view. I hope we have no issues this year.

Wasn't this booked before the changes?

Yes, last November. I have booked around those dates other years, never had a problem and sometimes it was a little less than 11 months. It's popular, but not as popular as the first week of December or NYE. I think because the dates are more spread out (the entire month of October & into November).

I think OP was concerned due to the new booking rules.. Maybe, I misunderstood?

I also book BW view 1 bedroom units in October and have never had a problem under the old rules. I don't expect to have a problem with the new system either. I bedroom units are the easiest size to get at any time of year and at any resort. Hope to see your there!

I knew one bedrooms were the easiest. I had wondered how difficult booking would be now.....if it would make much difference. I am in the process of adding on....just in case. (As good of an excuse as any:rotfl2: )

You're right, I don't have experience with the new booking rules for October at 11 months. But since it just started in June, neither has anyone else. I was just giving my opinion based on my past experiences booking October at 11 months at BWV.

Thanks! I just bought my first contract last fall. I haven't book F&W yet. I appreciate the info.:goodvibes

I know that standard view is usually very hard to get during F&W, but you never know.

I was just able to reserve a SV 1-bedroom for the week after Easter, which is also a busy time.

Good luck!!

I booked a 1 bedroom standard view for October 2007 and October 2008. In both cases, I only made one call (did NOT call day by day) and did not have to waitlist. Because of that, I do not expect the new booking procedure to be a problem for those who call at 11 months.

That said, I did book day by day for early December vacations in a 1 bedroom standard view. On a day that I did not call until after lunch (rather than first thing in the morning), I was told I got the last SV 1 BDRM for that night. Thus, I DO expect problems getting that time under the new booking procedures.

We shall see.

Thanks guys!

I guessed that 1 bedrooms would be easier to book than studios during Food and Wine Festival. Sounds like my hunch was correct.

I called my guide this AM. She has the points available for our add on.

Cross your fingers that all the add on paper signing goes well.

I booked at the 7 month window for a 1 bedroom at BWV premium/garden view using the old way for our upcoming trip Oct. 18th - 27th. I was actually 3 days late when starting my booking, but I had no problem. :) Booked 3 nights and then did a day by day for the rest until I forgot again and then did the last 3 days at the same time also. I had asked when I called the first time how the rest of the availability looked and I was told it should be no problem. I think you should be fine especially with the new AKV village opening before then. :cool2:

I too plan to book a standard 1-bedroom during October 2009. Normally I booked day-by-day at the 11 month window. So I'll be curious to see how we all do under the new rules.

More than 60% of the available rooms at the BWV are in the Pool/Garden category. Pool/Garden view rooms are often available at the 7 month mark and are seldom a problem for owners who book before the 7 month window opens. The week between Christmas & New Year's Day (esp NYE) is the exception.

The OP is asking about standard view - which makes up less than 20% of the available rooms. For October - December, SV units sell out very quickly and it is unusual for them to be available even a week after the 11 month window opens. Some dates fill within hours of the very first day the window is open.

FWIW, the Boardwalk view (also about 20% of the total rooms available) also fill very quickly, but not quite as fast as SV.

I booked this year a 6 months out at BWV and got a Stand View. I was really shocked they had a 1BR. My check in date is October 1st. :thumbsup2

We've been able to book ONE and TWO bedrooms Standard View at BWVs without needing to call day by day in the past for F&W - though each time I've been told by the CM that I was "lucky" and getting "the last room for one of the nights" and that if I was looking for a studio I'd be out of luck.

I always hope for a Standard View, but plan to spend the points on preferred.
