I'm trying to help a friend of our family make plans for their Disney vacation this November. They will be going sometime in November, but not the week of Thanksgiving. I was thinking that a great rate at the Swan/Dolphin might be a possibility with the Entertainment card. Is it hard to get those discounts (i.e. are there only a few rooms available at that rate)? Are there other better ways to get a discount? Thanks for the help! :)

Just call and ask.......but I think there are better discounts at the S/D this year. If they are getting AP's the rate is $139. Teachers, nurses and gov. employees also get a discount.

Check with DreamRes - I got $139/night at Dolphin for end of September, and the rate is open to anyone. I don't know if it's available in November, but it's worth a try.

this is from Mary's site (mousesavers.com)

"If you're tired of waiting for Annual Passholder rates at the Disney resorts, you may want to consider the Swan and Dolphin hotels, which are on Disney property within walking distance of Epcot and Disney-MGM Studios and offer virtually the same privileges and amenities as Disney's Deluxe resorts. You can get an Annual Passholder rate as low as $139 at the Swan and Dolphin hotels through the end of 2003!"
AP rate as low as $139 at the S/D through the end of 2003

we got tired of waiting for AP rate ( had CS booked rack rate but are cancelling soon as we get our S/D ressie in the mail) and did the S/D AP rate for Oct 17/18 and got upgraded to a lake view. So if you are thinking of getting AP's anyway the S/D would be a good choice. But hurry and call to see what dates they have left.

Maybe if Disney sees a lot of room business going to the S/D and elsewhere they'll come out with these AP's eariler next time

I have reservations for the Dolphin for early November at the Entertainment rate. When I received an email about the AP rate specials, the rate I received for the same type of room (balcony), was about $50 more per night than the entertainment rate.

If you can't find the Entertainment rate through the hotel and their website, definitely check out DU.
