How hard is it to book Aulani 7 months out?

My home resort is VGF, but I am hoping to use my points at Aulani one day.

Is it hard to get a studio 7 months out?

We just booked a week there at 7 months. I've looked before and as long as you are a little flexible on dates and room type I have usually been able to find some availability.

It really depends on when you want to go. I had a lot of trouble booking mid-June 7 months out. I was completely locked out for over a week. No hotel room or studio to be found. Zip. zilch. nada.

I eventually adjusted my dates and got four days in a row in one view and a fifth in a different view.

I am usually opposed to the practice but it seems to be a "walk the ressie" situation in June.

Our last trip there in Sept...we booked in June. And we were able to get ocean view.

I was able to book an OV studio for Aug 2013 and an IV studio for Aug 2014. I read that they are changing and reallocating the seasons on the point charts for 2016 and making nearly the whole summer "premium season" so it would be my guess that the lower point values like IV will be even harder to book. That is going to mess with owners who only bought enough points for certain size units with certain views in certain seasons. Somebody who THOUGHT they had bought enough points to always book an OV may now book Std or IV well before the 7 month window opens for non-owners. Summer is a very high demand for families with school age kids to travel that far. If you are looking that far ahead for that time of year I think you should plan for the higher points required for an OV so you are not shut out.

As the PP's have noted it somewhat depends on when you are going and the type of unit you want. We were able to book an OV Grand Villa for February at about 5 months out.
