WE are planning on going to Sea World one of our days in Nov. We use a wonderful car service for our trips to WDW and we could use them for our Sea World day but it is 60 bucks roundtrip when we pay 90 for our roundtrip to and from MCO. SO how far is it to Sea World from SSR and would it be cheaper to rent a car for the day or take a taxi. We are a family of 5. Thanks for any tips.

I posted this question before and someone on the Transportation Board told me there is a Lynx bus stop on the west side of Downtown Disney. You can walk there on the path behind the Carriage House. If you go to the Lynx website, you can see the schedule. It is bus #50 and it goes directly from that bus stop to Sea World. It takes about 20 minutes and costs $3 per person round trip. It runs every 30 minutes all day. Here is the schedule http://www.golynx.com/schedule.cfm?route=50.

Really. That is cheap. I wonder how reliable the schedule is and all?

I think the schedule is really reliable. I read somewhere that Disney invested money into this bus system to help provide better transportation for its workers. Therefore the giant bus stop at Downtown Disney and the TTC. Most of Disney's workers are barely paid above minimum wage and need to rely on public transportation. If you are taking the bus first thing in the morning you would be going in the opposite direction of the workers and also the opposite direction at the end of the day, so the buses should be fairly uncrowded.

So if we take the path around from the Carriage House....where is that bus stop on the West Side? I know where Disney Busses drop off at the WS. Thanks

Our first stay at SSR was last summer of 2006. (we loved it btw and just got back from another stay there a few weeks ago). We actually went there that summer for a non-Disney park trip and went to SW instead. I did have the car, so I can tell you from first hand experience it took less than 15 minutes for us to get to SW. No highways needed, all back roads. I think it took us less time to get to SW than to MK! I was actually quite surprised how close it was and was soooo glad I made our resort stay at SSR rather than a hotel near SW (so much more accessible)!

You might want to look into renting a car for the day as you can probably get a cheap rate and then have the freedom to come and go as you want that day. Some of the DTD hotels use to have car rentals available there but if not check "AAA" on the way out from MK.
