How far out can you book?

Hi everyone!

We have been to Disney 3 times and are just in love with it.

We have dreams of doing a European vacation in 2017 to celebrate my son's graduation and MY graduation from college (working on my BA now, hopefully graduating with my Masters by 2017).

My question is... how far out can you book and start paying? I know we are really far out, but I thought this would be a great way to get a jump start!

None of us have ever travelled outside of the country before, so we feel we would be in good hands with Disney!

Also wondering how this works with the DVC. We took the tour last year, but didn't buy. Maybe that would be a better way to do this?

Help? We are total travel newbies!

You can book about a year out for ABD, so if you know you want to travel in 2017 start saving your money now. The new itineraries usually come out in May of the previous year(ie. 2014 itineraries came out in May 2013). I'm a DVC member and use my points to do the ABD trips. It does require a lot of points, depending on which trip you want and you may need to use more than one year's worth of points to book the trip(you can use up to 3). There are some who would tell you not to use DVC points for ABD because they feel it isn't a good use of your points. You will have to make that decision. It works for me and using my points has allowed me to do the ABD Med Cruise add-on in 2011, ABD Greece in 2012, and Viva Italia in 2014.

How many points for the ABD add on part not the cruise part. Thanks in advance!

Which cruise are you interested in? The points range from 271 (5n) to 501 (12n) for one adult.

As the PP said, the range is from 271 to 501 per adult double occupancy. If you're going to do the Med cruise, I would suggest at least doing the 7 night(Villefrance, Naples, Rome, Florence), but look at where the cruise goes and where you want to go. You will not be able to see all of the sites in one trip so plan on going back. Even with the ABD add-on for the 7 night, we didn't see everything(David(the Academia was closed), Mt. Versuvius, Pompeii, Panthenon, etc.). I'm doing the 12 night Med this year to see what I didn't see last time. Again, I won't be able to see everything because you don't see as much with the regular excursions.

The 9 day from Venice with return to Venice. We did the ABD med cruise in 2011, but would like to have Greece included. So you think 1 person would be about 400 points just for the add on? We are a family of 4 so we would pay for 3 and have one use points is this possible?

The 9 day add-on is 353 points for double occupancy. If you're only going to book one person using points, you will probably have to pay the single supplement of 40% using points. That would make the total points needed to about 493 for one person. You may want to call MS and check with them to see if you are going to be able to do what you want.
