How far is Wilderness Lodge from Transportation and Ticket Center

Is it a reasonable walk from WL to the Transportation and Ticket Center or am I dreaming? I have never been to WL but I plan on going in May. We will be traveling with my In-Laws who can get around fairly well but they may not be up for a 5 mile hike. The maps do not give me an accurate idea of the distance. Does anyone know how far apart they are?

They are very close. I'm pretty sure the security guards will not allow you to walk since there are no sidewalks.

The good news, there is a bus from WL to TTC. It's less than a 2 minute ride.

I wouldn't walk it. There are no sidewalks, and by the time you wind you way around to the street, then have to cross the busy street to walk some more, you could definitely take the bus.

I was just reading your thread... so, we can take a bus to MK ? We have read others saying that you can only go by boat. Does the bus stop anywhere else before the MK ? We have stayed at further resorts with bus use, but never this close. This is one of our main concerns regarding WL. Some people like I said that the transportation was the only draw back of the lodge. Anyone have any help for me ? We are going in August !

Thanks... :Pinkbounc

From WL you will take a boat to the MK. Nice ride and drops you right in front of MK.

You will not go to TTC (you don't need to) and will not have to ride monorail or ferry. You take a bus from WL to all other parks.

Thanks for the info. I do hope they let us walk to TTC. Knowing my father-in law, he will walk whenever possible simply because he hates riding a bus. This means we all walk or we end up getting split up. Last time we all went we stayed at Poly. He got off at TTC and walked to Poly while we stayed on and got off at the resort. He actually beat us to the room only because our room was located almost equal distance from the lobby and TTC. The next stay at WL will be interesting.

You may want to prepare him..........it is a walk, much longer that from TTC to Polynesian and I don't believe there are sidewalks for much of it and there is no reason to go to the TTC when you go to MK. It is really only for people who are driving into and park at the MK. ALL WDW transportation bypasses it and goes to the front entrance of the MK.

Now if he does walk to the TTC it can only take him to MK or EPCOT. You will need to ride the bus to AK or MGM.

If he hates buses that bad, I would just drive everywhere except the MK, take the boat. It is a nice ride on the lagoon.

Those are good points. It looks like we need to have a little heart to heart before we go down.

Make sure you break it to him. You are not allowed to walk to the TTC; it is simply impossible. You will only need to visit the TTC if you want the luxury of taking the monorail to Epcot instead of WL's direct bus; otherwise you will use the boat to get to the MK.

I have another option to get to EPCOT - not via the bus.

Take the boat to the Contemporary. There are boats that go to MK and separate boats to the Contemporary.

You can "walk" from the Contemporary boat dock to the Monorail inside of the Contemporary.

Take the Monorail one stop and get off at the TTC and "walk" to the monorail that takes you to EPCOT.

Just make sure the boats are still running on your way back. You can ask the Captain of the Contemporary Boat.

We did this many times and enjoyed the journey.

*LOL*

If he really wants to *race* you, try this!

You take a leisurly boat ride on the Green launch to MK.

Him, take the Blue launch over to the CR, then walk to MK. There are sidewalks for this walk!

Last one there buys dinner! :cool1:

No really it's not a route meant to be walked.

My DH also hates riding on the buses. So I just asked about driving ourselves from the WL to the TTC. Here's the post http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=732662 if driving yourself is an option.

I understand the directions going in and that won't be too hard. Little more driving when coming back out to the WL.

Good luck. I'm going to try to get DH on the boats!

He won't like this - but I think that WDW has a van for transportation of people with handicapped (which is what getting bus sick is....) - it is not the bus but a van.

call the front desk and ask before you arrive.

otherwise I would go with the Polyn - or even better the Epcot resorts -then he can walk through Epcot to get the MK monrail - while you take the bus.....

he can walk to both studios and epcot from any of the epcot resorts - BW, BC, YC, or BCV - or D/S.

Don't get me wrong. He doesn't like buses because he is stubborn. It has nothing to do with a medical need or anything else. He is just a bit strong willed and will walk whenever he can. I think the bus will be fine. If not, he will end not seeing his grandkids in Disney. Thanks for all of the suggestions.

Yes, it can be walked....my husband would do it every morning. He would get a cup of coffee and then walk over to the TTC and walk our dog and spend some time with him. He said it was a nice walk, but there are no sidewalks, but he would go there at about 5:30 am so there was hardly any cars out at that hour. Definitely less than a mile.

Right, but the OP wants to go during park hours. I could be wrong, but if a Disney security sees a family trooping from WL to the TTC they'll be stopped.

Thanks spiceycat (my DH is the one with the motion sickness problems). DH gets sick in the back of any vehicle although I would think the van would be a quicker ride. Does the bus still go to Ft. Wilderness before MK? Seems like it did when I was there before. I think DH will do the boats or drive himself.

I agree about walking during park hours. You'd have to walk around the toll plaza area and along where all the cars and buses are coming in right? I can't see Disney wanting pedestrians in that area.

Good luck. You've got to give the OP's FIL his due. It's a good thing I think to want to walk, good exercise. Just don't want anyone getting hit by a vehicle.
