How far is DL from Pasadena?

I used to be on long-term business travel to Pasadena, and would take an drive down to DL any chance I got on a weekend. I believe it took me about an hour -- I believe the basic route I took was the 605 to the 5. If you go to any of the mapping pages, they'll map out a route for you and give you an estimate of distance and drive time. My favorite is randmcnally.com

Best of Luck!

Thank you! We're thinking about doing a New Year's trip and catching the Rose Bowl parade and also visiting DL.

We just returned from a combined DL and Rose Bowl Trip. It was a lot of fun. If I can answer any questions, don't hesitate to ask. You can email me through this site if it's more Rose Parade related.

Because we did a round about scenic trip from Anaheim to Pasadena area - we stayed in Arcadia - I can't say how long the drive was. We drove to the coast to see the Queen Mary and famous surfing beaches in the area.

We went to DL Sunday and Monday of Christmas week. It got very crowded - they closed the parks to new admissions by noon (this is unconfirmed - heard it while on line for a ride). Fastpass and a lot of endurance saved the day.

It was so magical to watch the fireworks from Main St. It brought back memories of watching the Wonderful World of Disney when I was a kid. It wasn't until then that I remembered watching the fireworks during the credits everyweek, and wishing that I could go see them. I had been to DL 5 years ago, put watched them from Frontierland that time - it was a much more moving experience for me this time. Disney has a special way of pulling on the heartstrings!

Hey, Charabby...sounds like a great trip! I live in Pasadena, and though we don't go to DL often, we go past it on the way to Legoland :D

Under the best of circumstances, Pasadena to the DL offramps from the freeway would be about 45-50 minutes. In bad traffic, you can about double that; virtually any of the freeways there has the potential to get really nasty. The key is careful planning; for example, during the Rose Bowl game is a fabulous time to drive (barring accidents)! The route Judy mentions is one possibility, and probably the one many mapping programs will give you, but there are better ones, especially if you have a family in the car and can take carpool lanes. Our personal favorite is going down Rosemead Blvd. to the 60, then east on the 60 to the 57. The 57 has a good carpool lane from there, tends in any case to be less crowded than the 5 or the 605, and has fewer trucks than either of those. The 60 can have some bottlenecks and does have lots of trucks, but patience gets you through, and it is better than the 10 as a general rule. The 210, which runs through the middle of Pasadena, is good, but it takes you rather too far to the east before it connects to the 57 (better connection with the 605, but I do loathe that freeway!). Anyway, that's lots more than you wanted to know, but it is to give you an idea of options; as long as you are comfortable with freeway driving, you'll find it to be a very reasonable trip.
