How Far in Advance Have You Booked?

Hi! I noticed that many of you have 2 trip counters. Many of these trips are quite far in the future! Have you actually made reservations or are those tentative dates? I have a 6 day trip planned for May '03 but really want to go after I finish nursing school in 12/04. If I booked now, what would a Disney Resort require to hold the room? Do offsite properties take reservations almost 2 years in advance? What would be the advantage to doing this? I think that much of the Disney Magic comes from the planning and anticipation of an upcoming trip! Is this why some book so far in advance? Part of me thinks it's way too soon, but the other part of me thinks it'll help with the "return-trip blues" knowing there is another trip in the works! Any thoughts on this would be appreciated! (sorry this is LONG!) :bounce:

Have to admit I book anywhere from a year to 6 months in advance. Don't know if there's any monetary advantage but you can usually get the room you want.

I know that the Poly and WL and some other popular resorts fill pretty quickly in the regular season. And it is cheaper to book early for the cruise!

I'm going to move this over to our resorts board for you.

Great savings too!

Wish I was going to...

With a little faith and pixie dust anything can happen.

take care,
LA

We have two trips already reserved. A week long trip in Dec. and a long weekend trip in Jan. I reserved each a year out. That gives me a year to budget for the trip. Besides half the fun is planning and anticipation!

Our trip this coming summer I booked a year in advance. I wanted the Poly, lagoon view, for the 4th of July. Like everyone else who has answered, booking early gives me time to save up and enjoy the anticipation of the trip.

I begin booking a year in advance but as discounts come out, I sometimes end up moving resorts.

We booked last October for our September trip. We got ressies through Shades of Green, though, and had to book a year in advance to secure a spot. I had to book a three week window and then when we nailed down the airline reservations, cancel out the days that we wouldn't be there. We have ressies for 10 days, split between the Beach Club and the Poly.

We're going in February of 2004 and I just made my ressies for Port Orleans Riverside last week. I just have to send in the deposit like usual and when the rates for next year come out and if they change they told me to call back. So, I'll go ahead and call the worst they can tell you is to call back, but I think they will take reservations.

How funny - DH just came into the den to ask me how "the boards" are doing today & said that he can't believe I don't have our trip for next Easter booked already.

I told him I definitely have to do that & asked him where he wants to stay. With that I looked & saw this thread. :p

So, I book our trips about a year in advance because I want to make sure I can get ressies are the resort we want & also airline tickets.

I love the planning & anticipation. My 3 DD's & I have a great time just waiting for the trip to get here. :Pinkbounc

Just called for reservations for Ft Wilderness campground in June 2004! :bounce: :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

I think I want to get a One Bedroom Villa for May 2005 - is it too early to do that?

I don't know, I would try and call they worse they could say is to call back:Pinkbounc . If you do book, you can pay a little off at a time and maybe have your hotel paid for before you go down. That's what we did last year when we went. I plan on doing that also, I just have to wait for the castmember rate. Then I'll be set. :D
