How far in advance can you make dining reservations?

We will be in Anaheim for Thanksgiving. We are staying at the Residence Inn. How far in advance can you make reservations if you are not staying on property? We will not be going to the parks that day, but I'm looking for suggestions for Downtown Disney or the hotels. Any body tried Granvilles Steakhouse? I don't necessarily care about having turkey dinner anyway, but don't really want RC. Any other restaurant suggestions for the Anaheim area would be appreciated. I will try anything but my husband is strictly meat and potatoes.

I just called the dining ressie number yesterday, and was told 6 weeks.
