how far in advance can you book a room?

we've booked a package holiday that includes accommodation for a week, but we've got the deal so cheap, and my partner loved universal when she went for the first time this year, that we're thinking of booking one night at a Universal hotel for my birthday as we're in Orlando on the date!

So I'm looking on both the universal website and expedia and both are saying no availability ... I'm assuming as I'm trying to book for next April I'm too early??? Or am I missing something?

Any advice??

2011 rates are not out yet There are allot of us on here waiting for them to pop up for next year. Keep checking back, sometimes it is not until later in the year that they open them up.

you can book now at rack rate to secure your room.

call and modify the rate when the discounted AAA, APH, SS come out.

i do this every year.

I booked a room this morning for March 25 and 26 next year. I know nothing about Universal so when there weren't any rooms to book online, I assumed they were full! I called the reservation number just in case and sure enough, I was able to book easily. Rates aren't out yet, I'm booked at the current rack rate. I guess I am just used to Disney where everything is booked so far in advance...

I had the same online experience trying to book for July 2011, nothing available. I too called the reservation line - same train of thought as you thinking OMG - it's just like WDW - I'm TOO late!! LOL! Needless to say, the CSR told me that currently they are only booking through the first part of June 2011, but she said by August 1, 2010 they should have all the 2011 dates open and ready for us!

This is our first trip to US/IOA so while I wait for the reservations to open, I'm reading everything I can.

I called today and HRH garden view rooms for February 2011 are $349/night

Needless to say, the CSR told me that currently they are only booking through the first part of June 2011, but she said by August 1, 2010 they should have all the 2011 dates open and ready for us!

I phoned from the UK last week and a lady on reservations told me that the later part of 2011 won't be bookable until December 2010. I didn't believe her then and glad you have posted this.
