How far in advance can you book a room with the DVC discount??

I just booked my 2 weeks in August.......of course, I did not book the weekend.........points just too high!!

I am looking to pay cash for the Friday and Sat. nights. Anyone know??

From past experience with this, the members discount shows up (if avail) at 60 days out. Only did this once, now I have plenty of points. (believe that one?)

Did it the same month as yours. The members discount showed up in June.

I always do cash for weekends because of the high points. I book the Friday and Saturday on cash at the same time that I book the points (usually start vacation on a Tuesday or Wednesday for 10 days) going from points to cash for weekend then back to points. Most of the time when I book the discount isn't available so I just keep checking back and when it becomes available they give me the better rate. This year, I actually went from full price, to DVC discount to AP discount which gave me a better rate than DVC discount, first time I've done an AP discount though. When I make the original reservation, it's like three reservations because of going from points to cash to points, but they link it all together and I have never had a problem.

Could somebody tell me how much the DVC discount usually is?

I didn't even know that there was one available.

We paid cash for a Friday night at Hilton Head in July, and I'm pretty sure I was told it was a 25% discount.

We're paying cash for NYE at OKW and MS told me to keep checking back for member discount availability, but I'm not holding my breath for it to happen on a holiday. Does anyone have experience with discounts for holiday stays?

I know from experience, keep checking. Last week I called to get our weekend in July 2003 for cash and they only had the sat night at OKW, no discount, so I took that. I got my member book yesterday and said, what the heck I will call and try again. Lo and behold a 2 bedroom for Friday was available. There is no member discount at this time, but I will keep checking on a monthly basis and once it's 4 months out, maybe on a weekly basis. I really did not want to use points but figured if I had to I would. I was smiling last night. But don't wait to atleast reserve a room.
