I need help from the experts!

I will be calling MS on Monday to make ressies for a May trip to OKW (our home resort). We are thinking of staying at AKL for a night or two either at the beginning or end of this trip. Does anyone know how far in advance non-DVC Disney hotels can be booked using points?

Thanks!

Non-DVC reservations using points may be made 11 months ahead, just like home resort reservations.

Enjoy!

If you have AP's though, we found such incredible rates for AKL last year, that we did that instead of using points there.

So for Disneyland Hotel in CA and for the cruise we can book 11 months out?
We're planning on using points for thse in the next coupel years.
Thansk!

Thanks for your help, everyone. I'll be calling MS on Monday to book both OKW and AKL. This is one of the few times that I'm looking forward to a Monday!

Remember that once you take points out of DVC, such as to AKL, if you cancel they cannot be used for a DVC resort and they cannot be banked. Alot can happen in 11 months, I wouldn't book AKL that far in advance, they usually have rooms open.

So what happens in that situation then?

They can only be used outside of DVC, such as a Disney Resort, Cruise, Conceirge Collection, etc. These are known as "reservation points", you sometimes see them on the rent board as such. One you take points outside of DVC, DVC then has a DVC room to rent for those points through CRO to pay for your outside stay. That's why you can't bring them back to use at a DVC resort.

Didn't know that, thanks for sharing.
They can' be banked and expire the end of your use year.
