We just put a down payment on a used pop up camper yesterday and I'm already trying to figure out when I can stay at Fort Wilderness! I still have a lot to learn about this whole camping thing (I haven't been camping in years and I have only ever tent camped before), but I really want to camp at Disney some day. So, how far in advance do I need to/want to book my reservation? Any suggestions? Thanks! I'm thinking it will be at least 2009 or 2010 before we take the camper down there. Will that work?

I just booked our 09 June trip a week ago but have made reservations for June as late as March. I booked early this year thinking I could send $200/per month and pay it off that way.

you can book 499 days in advance via the phone and online through the end of the year...

Usually we make reservations right after we get home from the fort for the following year.
We have also waited, and it is no where as easy to get what you want, when you want, without a million phone calls.
Sooner the better.

I think it depends on the time of year you want to visit. Obviously all the holidays ( Xmas, Easter, spring break, etc) you need to book ASAP--around a year out. However if you want to visit during an off season a couple months might be enough. Be forewarned that weekends book up before weekdays (locals coming in to camp) and Jan. & Feb. will book up with snowbirds. Hmmm on second thought, Book Now for 499 days out!:rotfl:

I was surprised to find late November booked solid 6-months out this year... this is supposed to be low season, and it is as far as the parks and rates go, but at FW this seems to be peak season. I had to book two weeks later than I wanted and two days shorter than I wanted. (I know, ) After several calls, I was able to pick up two more days, which will make all the difference in our trip's tone. All that to say, don't assume that low-season means easy booking... book as early as you can. You can always cancel later (and make somebody's last minute vacation dreams come true!)
