How far do you travel to see your regular doctor?

My sister moved a few years ago but she still drives over an hour and a half to see her family doctor and her dentist!

My doctor is a 15 minute drive but when he's out we do go to his doctor on call which is a half an hour away. I thought that was far!

I drive about 1/2 hour to see my general practicioner......I am very happy with him & I only go to the doctor about twice a year so I don't mind the drive.

When we moved from Baltimore to our current home in Elkton 18 years ago, I kept all my doctors in Baltimore, including OB/GYN and I was pregnant. Traveled an hour to have DS. Kept our pediatrician there until he to Boston moved a year ago. Kept my dentist until he retired. I still go to my GYN there. Did change my PCP because the other one always kept me waiting at least an hour. New PCP is 20 minutes away in DE. And we had a dermatologist for DD that was over an hour away in PA because she was the only one that would prescribe Accutane for her.

10 minutes in town traffic for all of them. Once my brother had a doctor down in Summit, NJ which is a distance of about 35 miles away which I had to drive him to. Took nearly an hour to get there.

One hour, one way. Good doctors are hard to come by!

all my dr's oncologist, Ob, Perinatologist and neurologist are about 30 minutes away.

Most of my Dr's are ones that I've been going to for awhile, so they are all about 20 min away in the town I used to live in. My primary care Dr just retired, so I'll be looking for a new one in my new town.

Well, my PCP and my OB/GYN are both 30-35 mins from home, but only about 10 mins from work. I just make the appts for on the way home from work.

20 minutes for my doctor, 25-30 for my dentist depending on traffic from home.

Upstairs :)
He is on the first floor, my office is in the basement of our building.

If I was at home and had to drive in, it would be about 15 minutes.

mine are about 20 minutes away.

brother moved to nevada and kept his primary care in california. drives about 3 hrs to see him (if the roads are not closed). but he has post-polio syndrome and there are not many doctors that know much about it.

i would travel across the country to keep my current doctor (it's too hard to break in a new one :) ).

Theres only about 2 doctor offices on Maui, So I go to one about 5min away.

About 20-30 minutes for my GP & OB/GYN. DH has been pressuring me to get ones closer but I just feel comfortable with them so the drive isn't too inconvenient...

About 30 to 40 minutes on a congested (always) main road. Lousy parking too. He's a great doctor and I like him a lot otherwise I would go to someone closer. Dentist is 20 minutes on same road. Same reasons!

Not too far, because our family doctor is one of my partners. Some of my patients drive quite a long way to see me. I see some patients on a regular basis from the middle of Kentucky; my office is just south of Indianapolis. We have so many patients from Shelbyville, which a 40 min drive, that I wondered for a while whether there were any doctors in Shelbyville. Some of the health insurance plans make sure patients have to drive a long way. For example, Tri care, which is for service men and women, isn't accepted by our hospital, so any testing needs to be done at another hospital, about 20 minutes from our office. One poor fellow had a broken ankle, and I needed to send him to the hospital on the southside of Indy for the Xray, then to Bloomington to see an orthopedic surgeon.

I moved to Arkansas from the San Francisco area and I still go to SF at least once a year to see several of my doctors.

I have a very complicated medical history and have the best of the best of the best doctors at Stanford who are all very familiar with my background. I will probably go see my internist there once a year forever.

My doctors at Stanford Sleep Center are the ones who literally discovered virtually everything about sleep disorders. I wouldn't consider going elsewhere. Guess I'll have to when they retire, but it will be someone who has trained under them.

My pulmonary doctor and cardiologist are also some of the best in the country.

I have some very good doctors where I am now, but they just don't have the 15 year knowledge of my medical issues that the others do. Yes, the new doctors have my records, but they never seem to look at them or remember what is in them.

My ob/gyn, kids' ped, DH family practice (soon to become mine too, as mine is in Iraq), my orthodontist are all in the same city an hour away. I work in a hopsital about 5 minutes from my house, but I don't go there.
