How far away is the ocean to where you live?

An hour from the Gulf of Mexico, 3 hours from our favorite beach on the Gulf.

about 2 hours from the northsea but then i have to go acros the country as i live near germany

It's about an hour and a bit, depending on where we go and the traffic, to Bar Harbor, Hancock, Tremont, etc.; all the little coastal towns, but the beaches aren't terrific up here; too much "rock-bound coast of Maine" for laying out and getting sun regularly (or too many tourists at Sand Beach in Acadia). We usually do most of our beaching in York, as my sister and brother both live there; free places to stay, they have town parking stickers, and the beaches are gorgeous (Long Sands, Short Sands, Harbor Beach). It's about a three hour drive down, but easy to do on the weekends (or weeks- I have the summer off!).

800 miles to the west (Pacific) :(, 3,500 miles to the east (Atlantic), 2,100 miles to the north (Arctic) ;).

About 3.5 hours. We used to live 2.5 hours from the same beach. Ocean City, MD. No season passes of any kind, parking or any other. There is some free parking and also better parking for $1.50/hour.

For 3 years we lived 10 minutes from the beach in VA Beach. But, we rarely went during peak summer times due to the crowds.

Too far! sigh. .

But, we are 5 minutes from Lake Ontario

And about 1 hr from Lake Erie. Both with fresh water beaches. :goodvibes

We live in Iowa so...not close. ;)

But we do have a very nice public pool in the neighborhood.

Twenty minutes to the Gulf of Mexico when in Bradenton
Two minutes to the English Channel when in Brighton

about an hour. we love day trips to the beach in the summer, but I grew up about a 15 min bikeride to the beach and I miss being that close!

About an hour-and-a-half from Wildwood, New Jersey. Spent all of my childhood summers there.

18 miles to the beach (atlantic ocean)

6 miles to the beach (Long Island sound), but the sand is rocky and no waves.

I grew up on the south shore of Long Island very close to the beach. I could see one of the bridges from our front door.

Take the elevator down 8 floors, walk out the door to the patio, maybe 100 feet to the beach gate and we're there :beach:

10 min. Jersey Shore

There's a lot of Jersey Shore. :goodvibes
6 miles to Point at this time.
I used to live 15 blocks straight down the road to the beach in Bradley Beach.
I'm a Monmouth/Ocean county girl for life (so far).

For the last 2 years, I have lived 17 miles, 30 minutes from the ocean and a beach that is actually swimmable.

The previous 28 years I lived about 16 miles from the ocean but the closest beach that wasn't too cold to swim in, was probably 90 minutes. While we lived there, we did most of our swimming in lakes.
