How far ahead to buy DC tickets?

We have our plane tickets for the last week of may 2013. I'd like to wait until January to buy our dc tickets but I don't want to miss out if I wait too long and they sell out. Any idea when I should Buy them? Thanks!

I would think that waiting until January to purchase tickets for May should be no problem. They should still have lots of availability that many months ahead.

In the meantime, be sure to sign up for their emails, like their Facebook page, etc. to make certain that you know of any promotions they might be offering. That way, if a really good deal comes up between now and January that applies to your travel date and you want to jump on it, you can do so.

I found that the tickets went up the closer we were to the date. I checked in March for our Oct/Nov. trip and the non swim was $149. In May it had gone up to $159. I waited till Sept and from one week till the next it had gone up to $169., so I would make them no later than Jan. They told me on the phone that the price does go up as the tickets sell out.
