How far ahead to book>

I am planning a trip for my parents 40th anniversary; I need to have this booked by November 2002 (its a gift), I went to Disney's website to get room rates and it only goes through the end of 2002. When would rates generally be released for the following year?

Am I correct in saying that its generally cheaper to book everything separately rather than a package? The travel dates are very flexible (I'm looking for the lowest rate), the only months I absolutely wouldn't go with are the summer months. The hotel isn't flexible. It has to be the Polynesian. Occassionally I get one of those cards offering it for under $200 per night, but of course, never when I need it!

Any suggestions for me? Thanks!

Rates for 2003 will come out in June (usually). Discounts come out a few months prior to travel, so if you'd get a discount in November, it would probably be for January or February.

Yes, it is generally cheaper to book things seperately than in a package, but packages are convienent (some include meals) and they can also do an air and ground transportation add on, too.

Discounts can always be added to your reservation later on. I would go by what looked like a lower-priced season last year and just make your reservation now. You can keep calling after next year's rates come out to get the best price.

We've always booked a package trip. Our upcoming trip in July 02 was booked at the start of Aug 01.

Well to start with you could book something during "Value" season, that is when they offer the cheapest "Rack" rates, then you can change to any discounts you come across later. The 2002 Value season for the Polynesian is 1/1-2/13, 7/4-10/2 and 11/3-12/19. ~~
