How easy is it to get from a Disney Resort to Universal?

Is there any public transportation that takes Disney resort guests to Universal? Or does Disney not allow buses to come on its property to take guests to a "rival" park?

Not that I am aware of. Members of our groups have gone to Universal and they called a cab for a ride over.

There is a Lynx bus that picks up at the TTC and transports to Universal. Others report arranging for transport through Mears.

There's a lot of info on the Transportation Board.

To get from WDW to USF is long and complicated.

1. You have to get from your Resort to the DTD Bus Station to pick up the #50 Lynx bus.

2. These buses leave every 30 minutes, and according to the schedule (www.golynx.com) it is one hour and two minutes to the Lynx Central Station.

3. The #40 bus leaves from Lynx Central Station hourly (at 45 past the hour) and it is 1:08 to the USF Parking Garage.

4. So you are looking at 1:02 on the #50, 0:12 waiting at Lynx Central Station and 1:08 on the #40, for a total of 2:22 plus the time to get from your Resort to the DTD bus station.

Taxi is about $40 each way.

You might look at a one-day car rental from Alamo at the Car Care Center.

Do you really mean *public* transportation, like the public transit bus? Or do you mean any sort of shuttle-type of transportation? Because Mears offers a paid ride between WDW and Universal. You have to call them to arrange it.

For my new years trip I'm planning on using the dreams unlimited travel two park one day ticket with transfers. (Being a mostly lurker who doesn't really post, I can't post a link, yet. Do a quick search and you should be able to find it. )

Hopefully it works out for us, it sounds like a great deal, and I actually found other travel agencies with the same ticket combo pack, and this was also the best price I could find.

We're so excited!

100 days to go, and then I can tell you how it goes! :)

Other options we considered for our trip, included renting a car or taking a cab, but for us, this was the most logical. I think the lynx bus, although inexpensive, just isn't worth the effort involved.

I use Mears. They are very friendly and efficient. The price is well worth the chauffeur trip there and back. No gas,no rental fee, no road rage, no parking fee... No hassle. Just call them.

We went to Universal two trips ago. We used Tiffany Towncar. They picked us up and took us right to Universal. We had scheduled a time to return but we wanted to leave earlier than that so we called and they had no problem picking us up earlier. It was really nice :)

I've used the DU travel pkg several times now...works just great!!!
Or, you can just book with the Mears shuttle.....$19 r/t pp. You can set your own departure time...well, tell them when you want to be at US/IoA and they will tell you what time you will be picked up. To return to WDW...you can either set that return time when you book originally, or you can call them about 3 hrs prior to when you want to leave. They will tell you what time your shuttle will be there. It's all very easy.

You could take the Lynx bus there. But it will take a LONG time. CF says it's going to take a couple of hours in his previous post.

As I'm only paying for myself, I generally use the Mears $19 shared shuttle. Yes, they do stop at other hotels, and they might even make a stop at Sea World so I take that into consideration.

What you won't find is any "free" transportation between WDW and USF.
