How early have you been able to check into a room?

I read in Disneyworld's webpage that they keep the rooms vacant for one day before putting the next family in it as part of their cleaning precautions to reduce covid transmission.

Since the room is empty, were you able to get a room assigned to you earlier than 4pm? What was the earliest time you were able to get into your room?

I don’t think that is true.

Yeah, that has not been Disney’s policy so far and I don’t see it anywhere on the website as far as I can tell.

Where are you seeing that info?

As for check in times, my experiences since reopening have generally matched pre COVID trips. Sometimes early, sometimes around check in, once in awhile past check in.

On November, our BWV room was ready at noon, GF ready at 8:00am. GF was very quiet, occupancy was probably low.

Our recent past trip or two we were able to get in our room at Pop around 9:30am. When we go, we typically have an early arrival flight and are usually lucky checking in early.

Arriving early and getting into the room early are separate events. When we travel, we usually come into Orlando late at night and simply stay at a less pricy hotel near the airport. Then the next morning.....early...we head to WDW and our hotel. We will drop our luggage with the porter or the concierge and head to the parks. We'll then head back in the late afternoon to get our room. If doing the app check in we don't even have to stop at the check in desk. We get a text and use the app to get into the room. We'll also call the porter and have him take up our luggage before we even get there. (we always go back and tip him well for that when we arrive).

Anyway, that method for us allows us to get a full day in on day one and getting settled into the room is easy peazy.

We’ve been 5times now since reopening (twice in an OKW 1 bedroom, once in a SSR 1 bedroom, once in a BLT 1 bedroom, and once in a Poly bungalow). We always put that we‘ll arrive at 10am as that’s when we usually get to property (we live an hour away) and only once was the room not ready by 9:30am. That one time was one of the OKW trips and I went to the front desk and they had numerous other rooms available, just not my highest floor in South Point, so I switched to a different location and had a room at 10am.

Since re-opening I've had my room available anywhere between 8:30am (Kidani Village) and 5pm (Pop Century). The check ins where I've gotten in early I've had an early flight in or chose an early arrival time. The ones where I either didn't choose a time or had a later arriving flight our room was ready later in the day. In our experience, it seems like they're trying to keep you somewhat near whatever arrival time you choose, but ymmv.

They definitely are not doing that. I have had all of my 4 stays be in a room that was just cleaned.

For dvc it MAY take longer due to being more booked. For all my regular resort stays I have gotten a room when I arrived at the resort 11-2p.

We checked into CBR on Saturday. Room was ready at 1:50pm. We didn't request an early check in. Today, we moved to WL Copper Creek. Put in a check in time of 8am. Received a text at 7:35am that our room was ready.

Ha! It's OK - there are some hotels/resorts that are publishing/advertising a delay between room occupancy as part of their procedures, so it's not a totally unheard of concept - just not at Disney.

that may have been another hotel. We’re staying at another place before Disney so I looked at so much places that now I’m confused.

It's possible the room that was initially assigned to you was given to someone else. But you'll never know.

True. That’s why I don’t like arriving late. Although they do send a text of your room number when doing online check in. So I would think they couldn’t give it away after the text was sent.

I don't like arriving late either. I think it's always better to give them an earlier arrival time, so there's a better possibility of getting your room text earlier. That way, if you're not happy with your room assignment, you can always call the number that comes with the text and request a change. No guarantees of course.

I don't think they'd give your room away once the room number has been texted to you, but they won't text you until your room is officially ready, so your initial room that may have been assigned to you on paper is fair game for others until it's been officially given to you.
