How early do you need to book DC for summer?

I am hoping to plan a trip to Discovery Cove in the first week of August. We will be in Orlando for a family reunion and the guys will be golfing a couple of times, so I decided this would be great for my mom, sister, daughter (the only granddaughter) and I.

The guys will then watch the other grandkids (all 8 boys) when we go!

How early should I book for summer? I am nervous about booking so early and then something happening. I know you can cancel without a fee, but I'm not quite ready to choose an exact date.

Thanks for any help

Julia

Summer is the busiest time ever in Orlando. if you know the dates for sure then book and you can change once without a charge but if you need to change it again there's a $50 charge. Also, they charge your credit card when you book so if you don't want to book yet you can just take a chance with your dates if you decide to wait closer to time.
