We have decided to do the dining (Ariels Grotto) option for next Sunday WOC. We have 3 small boys and don't want to line up too early for WOC. Can you show up at 8:30 and still be guarenteed a spot?

The tickets will tell you 8:00-8:30 return, but we were at the barracades by 7:30 and rushed in with everyone else to get a spot. Yes, if you show up at 8:30 you will have space in the preferred dining area (it didn't really get full) but you will probably not have a GOOD spot. We brought snacks, cards, DS's with us for the kids to use while we waited. The preshow starts at 8:30 so you'll definitely want to have your spot by 8:20.

We showed up about 7:20 just as they were letting the mob into the viewing area. We went straight to the front of the preferred dining section and were in the first row along the railing which was a great spot and I imagine a good spot for kids to be able to see well. It filled up fairly quickly in that spot. The stairs along the front edge of the big circle area didn't fill up as fast but were definitely filled by 8:30. I know what you mean about not wanting them to have to wait too long but I don't know if you would get a spot where they could see good if you wait until 8:30. Also, the pre-show starts at 8 so that helps with some of the wait time.

I assume you mean the green railing?

Yes. We went in the entrance by the circlular area and just went straight to the front. The blue (and yellow?) section were in front of us but lower so it was easy to see. We sat by this guy who had seen the show 4 times (with both picnic and dining) and he thought that this was the best spot. I don't know if that's true since we only saw it once but we thought it was a good spot.

I'll also mention that it was just DH and I so with 2 people it was easier to get to the spot we wanted fast and to find enough room for us. If i had a bigger group it would probably be better to show up a little before we did (which was around 7:20).

Also, I don't know if this is what happens every night but we found a good spot to get ahead of some of the mob when they first let people in. We were coming from TSMM and went past Ariel's and over the bridge to where the "mob" was waiting. We were actually kind of late to join the mob since they were just starting to let people in but we were way over on the left side and there was sort of an empty spot up closer to the front because most people were gathering more directly in front of the entrance. Standing in this spot helped us get through the entrance quicker I think.

Thanks! I think we are going to do just what you did but show up earlier at 7PM. Our group is seven - adults and teens - everyone is 5'6" and taller.

So if we purchased the picnic meal with either the preferred seating what does that actually mean? I pick up our tickets for it when we arrive.

You will get a FP in either of the blue or yellow section when you pick up your food (at least that was the color when I was there). They are on either side of the middle section which is reserved for those that did the premium dining at WCT or AG. You will be amongst those that stood in line to get FPs at park opening.

You can pick up your pre-purchased picnic meals starting at 11:30am. The pre-purchased picnic meals are for the 9:00pm show.

There's also an option to buy a picnic meal on the day of. Those picnic meals can only be purchased on the day of the show, and they are for the 10:15pm show.

From what I've heard, the picnic meal still comes with either a Yellow FP or a Blue FP. The Blue FPs can be used to stand in the Blue Section inside Paradise Park, or to stand on the Bridge.

From all accounts, the following viewing chart appears to be current:
