How early did you book your PS?

I was wondering when most of you booked your planning session. I know when I want to go and where I want to stay, and can get great rates right now, but it is a year away, and I will not be able to confirm my dates until May. I am thinking of just booking the hotel soon because I'm afraid the great rates will disappear, and then just canceling if I have to for some reason.

Our wedding was November 10, 2008 and we went down for our PS the end of May 2008. I told them we were coming then for my birthday so they said that was fine. We were also down for Thanksgiving 2007 and this is when we did our site visit.

I would book the hotel if you have a great rate, Disney's cancellation policies are pretty reasonable.

How long before the wedding are you planning on going to FL? The Planning Session is done 6 months before your wedding date, otherwise they can't confirm pricing for you. If you go earlier you can do a site visit and may be able to meet with them, but I don't think you could do a tasting or anything like that.

We booked our PS back in October. It will be in March so that will be around 5 months before the wedding. I found a good rate and told my WC we'd be down there then and she booked it for me and even sent all the paperwork for me to fill out.

I was told the PS should be booked once you get into the 6-month range. At that point everything you choose can be confirmed and added to a contract.

Before the 6-month mark you can't confirm things.

I'm almost positive you can't book it until you get a wedding planner which you get a couple weeks after you sign your loa. We booked ours as soon as I spoke to the wedding planner and it's for the end of June so about 6 months in advance and our wedding is the end of October.

We booked ours before we had a planner since our work schedules limited our dates. It was no problem. Our PS was 7 months before the wedding. I am 4 and 1/2 months now and my planner hasn't said anything about a change in prices. Our BEO isn't finalized yet though.

I was told you can have your planning session 4-6 months prior to your actual wedding date. IMO, I would choose the 6 month range. I feel 4 months is cutting it too close to the actual event. :goodvibes

Thanks everyone! We are planning on May for the wedding, so we want to do December for the planning session, which would be almost exactly five months out. I deff. want to do December because I want to be there for all the Holiday Happenings, as we have never done any of this before. I think I am going to book ONLY the hotel soon, and if we have to end up canceling we will.

I just booked my planning session this week. The PS is scheduled for February which is more then 6 months out for my wedding. I wasn't sure they would be able to book it yet because we haven't sent in our LOA signed but I was confirmed for the PS yesterday. HTH

I booked my PS as soon as I got the date, which was October 2008. My WC put a request in early because we knew we would be down there for my birthday in May 2009, and it's hard for us to travel as the closest airport is 3 hours away. I had no problems!
