I've had the common cold for 5 days now- interestingly enough when I was on the treadmill or going for my walk my nose stopped running- I spent 3 days on Benadryl but it knocked me out and gives me the jibbies- I'm on the end stage of the cold but it made me wonder - do you continue your routine (granted there's no fever and other stuff) with a cold or do you rest? I've been so active lately that I can't stand laying around but after a long walk I can't do anything but lay around. I am drinking more water but I feel zapped with the head congestion. Also TOM is in the midst of this so I know I'm probably a bit anemic as well- but I wondered if you feel exercise helps or hurts you when you've got a little cold?

Thanks!
Tara

Tara - Have you asked your doc about using clarinex-D? It's OTC, doesn't make you sleepy, and may help with that hyper feeling you get on Benadryl. The D formula is to help with the congestion. Hope it helps.

Yes, on Tuesday, my stomach was upset and I just vegged in bed all day.

Feel better soon :D

It depends. If my illness includes migraines or sinus headaches, I move as little as possible.

If I don't feel too weak I will at least begin my workout. Then after a few minutes, if I still feel terrible, I will quit.

I just force myself to begin, anyway. Sometimes I'm able to finish ever when I am ill.

I try, but I think that you have to adjust it a bit as your body repairs itself....I do try to take it easy :)

I haven't been sick yet since starting Atkins (knock on wood!LOL) so I am not sure how I will adjust, but I did just find a walking partner tonight...My friend, Rosie asked me if I wanted to walk with her each night and I was jumping up and down! LOL...So I am looking forward to that each night now! :)

I think it you feel lousy, you should listen to your body and rest. I won't exercise if it's my TOM and I feel crummy. Same thing with having a cold. Of course, when I get to the other side of feeling sick and things are getting better, IF I feel up to it, I'll exercise! :)

I very rarely get sick bad, but I do get a few nasty colds each year. I try to keep up with my jogging, walking & ab crunching, however, there are usually 1 or 2 days, usually at the beginning of the cold, where Im just too miserable to do it.
