Our trip to Disney is all set and after alot of planning my wife and I have opted to purchase all items for our Disney trip separately (Flight, rental car, moderate resort room with AAA discount, and discounted Disney 7 day pass). My wife and I will be arriving in Orlando during the after noon on day 1 and will be staying offsite in a cheaper hotel for the first night. The next day we will be starting fresh and planning to spend the whole day in one of the parks (but this will also be the day we will be checking into the Disney property). How should we proceed and how does the process work with the tickets and room with our situation. We have not been to Disney since '93 and I am not sure how things have changed since then. Do the tickets and hotel room key go together? Can we get into the park with the tickets alone? On day 2, should we go to the Disney hotel first thing in the morning and check in, then proceed to the park? What is the procedure given the fact that we have purchased everything separately? Thanks.

Your tickets will not be on the room key since it sounds like you bought discounted tickets from a third party.

On day 2, you can go straight to the park. You will not need your room key (unless you are planning to go to the park that has morning EMH). BUT

But I would recommend checking in first. Not because of the room keys, but to get rid of you luggage and to get the paper for your car saying you are staying on site. Then you would not have to pay for parking when you go to the parks.

There have been some who said that they show the toll booth CM their reservations and avoid the fee. Some pay and get it reimbursed when they check in. But others have tried both of these and still had to pay. So, avoid the hastle and check in first.

I second checking into your resort first! The bellstand can hold your luggage and if you're luck your room might be ready! Also you can call and check if your room is ready while your in the parks too.
