How does the Wait List work?

Does the waitlist update throughout the day or just overnight? Is the waitlist checking and matching (on the system) constantly or at set times? We are going soon and I'm trying to figure out how often I need to check.

Nobody really knows for sure and MS will give you different answers. The matches appear to happen at all different times.

Called MS a few times on this subject and got a different answer each time. I also would like to know.......
