How does the ranking of AKL change if the Sky Liner is added?

IF a Skyliner stop is added to AKL, does that drastically change it's rating or just give it a little nudge?

I honestly feel like AKL is already pretty high up there so it will probably give it a little nudge but not too much.

It would go up a lot for me. Love AKL for food and atmosphere and the second bathroom in the 1BR but won’t stay there much due to transportation. However, with Skyliner, it would probably become my second favourite resort!

I'd like to think they wouldn't run the Skyliner over the savannas. Plus the cost for extending it all that way would be a whole lot. It would be years before they could financially do it.

AKV/AKL really isn't that far from Epcot, DHS and AK. It's just MK. And the MK resorts are a long way from AK.

We also rank AKV very high up so it wouldn't change in that regard. I'd wouldn't protest if there was an option to get to AK that didn't involve a bus just because it isn't that far and you often spend more time waiting than riding. DHS would be the next best feasible besides the water parks although of course it would likely route thru another location like Coronado or maybe even add the water parks. That would be ok but wouldn't alter the appeal of AKV for us.

Now will they do any of this? Not for a long time, if ever would be my bet.

Interesting thought! I’m thinking it wouldn’t majorly affect those that love it... it could positively affect people who don’t like the bus-only transportation option, but could negatively affect those who like the secluded “away from it all” feeling. I’m probably in all 3 of those categories, so I’m seriously torn!!

Already one of our 4 resorts we prefer to stay at. But currently only like to stay a few nights every once in a while. The skyliner going there would probably make it a more frequent flyer for us.

That would be a negative for us. DD20 has a fear of heights, no desire to go on the skyliner. It would also take away from the feel of the resort. AKV is in 2nd-3rd place for us. BWV is in first, not much would change that for us.

AKL Owner and why I think it would be good for added transportation, I don't feel it would fit at all so it would totally spoil it for me I think. We use the buses and don't drive while over and we don't find the transport bad to be honest, sure it takes time but it's still fine for us.

From a practical standpoint, adding the Skyliner from Hollywood studios to AK to AKL does not appear to be an economic savings. Now the game changer would be if they ever built a 5th gate somewhere between Hollywood studios and AK, now you are connecting more parks with more resorts (which would go up around the new gate). Alas, this is not going to happen in my lifetime.

If you look at a google map, there is an almost completely unobstructed path between the Jambo bus pickup and the park bus pickup for a skyliner path. This would make almost perfect sense to put a skyliner there IF the cost savings are there. That I don’t know. I personally don’t think this would detract from the theming one bit since the route is mostly outside of the resort and park. The San Diego zoo has the skyfari which is your typical theme park cable gondola ride. I don’t think it detracts from the theme there one bit.

Putting a skyliner there would make it so much easier to get to and from Jambo/AK and make that resort so much more valuable.

I can't help but wonder what that would do to AKV MFs that are already on the higher end . That said, the Skyliner is pretty sweet - rode it twice on our recent visit - and we were staying at BLT!

It takes you what 20-30 mins to get from Riviera to Hollywood Studios? That is just over 1 mile between the two.

From AKV you would be 2.5 to HS and 3.5 to Epcot rough estimates. You are talking about potentially 1hr or more rides on the skyliner to get to any park (other than AK). So really it does nothing.

Easy access to AK is nice but AK is the bottom of the 4 parks when you realistically look 2-3 years in the future. Right now possibly Epcot is below AK in attendance but Epcot is getting a full face lift and multiple new attractions that will have it easily surpass and put AK in the bottom.

In the end AK is a nice resort but will never break in to the category of the top resorts next to MK or Epcot.

Now if OKW or SSR got the skyliner I think there would be a tangible change for those resorts.

I haven't timed it but no, there's no way it takes 20-30 minutes for the ride. If you have to wait to board, like you might have to for a bus, then I supposed you could ultimately end up there. But I'd be surprised to be told that any segment between stations takes more than 5 minutes of actual ride. Epcot to Riviera is the longest - I guess that might.

Sure, I think it would be a great bonus for AKV. Also awesome for the other resorts on the skyline loop to add a 3rd theme park they'd be able to access.

However, with all of the down time recently and the very apparent reality that skyliners during Florida summer are a logistical nightmare, I'm not so sure it's the way to go.

Ya I knew the RIV to Epcot was fairly short that is why I was estimating higher on the HS direction. Even so if we are talking about 15 mins its still a long trek to any other park from AKV.

We are talking about AKV -> AKL -> AK -> Coronado -> (Epcot or HS)

Does that list of connections move it from being not attached to a park to being attached to a park in people's eyes? I mean RIV already has a little stigma but regardless as you said Epcot is a very short and straight shot from RIV.

I think it would be cool to have the skyliner all over but not sure its practical until they eliminate the need to people to get out at change stations and also eliminate the need to shutdown during high wind/lightening. Lately when looking at RIV again as I continue to think about a direct purchase one of the aspects that jumps out at me is the potential issue of the Skyliner random shutdowns due to weather, there isn't much information out there on it.

Put it this way would AKV/AKL with a skyliner to Epcot and/or HS jump in to the group of hotels with RIV, CCV, BRV? I don't think so I think it simply moves AKV solidly in the lead over SSR/OKW which it already is IMO.
