I am new to this board and someone answered my thread by saying it would be inexpensive for me to stay at a DVC is I rent points from a DVC member. Can someone please explain how this works and how I can do this?

1. See the [thread=1669863]Considering Renting from a DVC Member?[/thread] thread. hugely important information.

2. there's a link to DVC point charts at the top of the screen to figure out how many points your reservation will require.

3. here's a link to learn more about the DVC resorts.

4. go to the rent/trade board and read the sticky threads there

5. and then start looking for a DVC owner to rent a reservation from.

(BTW, most DVC members make reservations more than 6 months in advance...many at 10-11 months out...so working with shorter notice may limit your options.)

have fun!

Renting points is a great way to stay at a premier resort while saving a bunch of cash. However, make sure you know the risks/variables.
Others on this board are way more experienced than myself but here is what I can suggest: 1.) You are at the mercy of whomever is renting you the points, the reservation is made and ulitmately controlled by the owner of the points. Get a written agreement in place that describes the sellers reponsibilities and the buyers resp. Ask for references, or experience in renting points out. 2.) Be open minded to the specifics of your stay. Your exact dates and room options may not be available. 3.) If you are a DDP family you now can buy unexpiring park tickets and still get the DDP. (WDW makes you buy a "package" (room/tickets) to get the DDP. Buying unexpiring tickets will save you big bucks. We travel 5 or 6 days every year. This years tickets are paid for at 2008 rates, we have 5 days left on our tickets. Not to mention the quantity break alone is significant when you buy a 10 day ticket.

3.) >> (WDW makes you buy a "package" (room/tickets) to get the DDP.

When a reservation is made using DVC points you do not need to purchase park tickets at all to get DDP.

DDP must be arranged by the member that you are renting the DVC points reservation from no later than 48 hours before the check-in date and you will pay for DDP when you check-in by either cash or credit card and DDP must be purchased for every person listed on the reservation and for the entire length of the reservation; that's all that is required to get DDP.
