How does ME work for the trip back to the airport?

DH posed this question to me yesterday as we were looking at our luggage sticker tags. There's 2 for each person. Is that for 2 bags each on the way to Disney? Do we take our luggage with us on the ME bus when we go to the airport on our return flight or is it checked at the hotel and we don't see it till we land?

The luggage question on your return flight depends on the airline you are flying. If a participating airline you check your luggage and get your boarding pass at the resort. Then not see it again until you're at your desitnation airport.

You will not get luggage tags for the return trip. If you are flying on a 'participating' airline (you can find the list on a sticky here), you can check your bags at your resort early on your departure day. Then, you just return to the DME bus area at your appointed time, go to the airport, go right to security, rather than having to check your bags there.
If you are not on a 'participating' airline, then your bags will go on the DME bus with you, and you will check them, the same as usual, at the airport for your return trip.

If you left baggage with the bellhop while you spent a few last hours at the park before Magical Express home, plan on extra time, 45 minutes at some resorts, for the bellhop to get it back for you. You must be punctual. The bus is supposed to be pulling away at the time shown on your (mandatory) return reservation slip.

Remove the yellow tags from your baggage before returning home. If your airline is listed at the resort baggage check stand, they will put new tags on.

If the check stand is not open yet (before about 5 AM) or if there is a long line there and your bus is about to depart, or if your airline is not listed, or if you must go through customs, or if you simply wish to, you bring baggage to the bus with you.
