How does it work DDP and an "infant"?

Forgive me, this may be a silly question.

We have a little one coming with us for the first time. We always do the dining plan (suckers, i know) and prefer to eat a lot of table service meals. It's my understanding that my youngest (2yo) won't get her own credits for the dining plan. But, how does this work when ordering her food? I know at a buffet or family style meal, she will simply eat off of our plates basically, but what about at a place like Beaches and Cream? Can we not order for her? If we do order for her, will we basically just pay OOP?

Also, my oldest is now "disney adult" though she eats like a bird...would it be possible to pay OOP for a kids meal and reserve ODD's meal credits for other meals? I don't even know if that question made any sense.

At AYCE meals she will eat free anywhere else you will just need to pay for anything you order her OOP.

Most places will let you order a kids meal and pay OOP and use credits for your meals - just let the server know what you want to do.

At TS restaurants where you order from a menu, your 2 year old can eat off of your plate and you will not be charged. if you order anything for her you will pay OOP.

For your oldest, you can order from the kids' menu and pay OOP for her meal and save her credits for another meal or for 2 credit meals.

But make note, even saving her TS credits, they can only be used as child's credits or turned into CS/snack credits. 1 for 1 TS to CS credit. 1 TS meal to 3 snacks. (Please correct if I am wrong. I know you can trade the TS for the cs. I am just assuming then you can also trade a TS for 3 snacks since you can trade a CS that way.)

She said her child was a Disney adult,so the creditors would be adult credits.

One thing we did on the meal plan was get an adult sized chicken nugget quick service meal with2 milks instead of drink and dessert for my kids to share.

You're wrong, because OP said that the oldest daughter is a Disney "adult."

If your oldest DD eats little, does she and youngest DD like similar foods. If so I would probably order one meal for them to split and order younger one a drink. It would be the easiest route and they would bring you an extra plate.

You could save her meal credits and stretch your plan by paying for some kids meals OOP. Many adults even share a meal to make the DDP work for them, sometimes it's just too much food.

Of course older DD will be charged full rate at any buffet or all you can eat locations.

KIDS UNDER-3 EAT FREE "411":
1) TECHNICALLY, there is such thing as a "kids-under-3-eat-free" policy.
. . . no where in ANY Disney brochure is this mentioned
. . . there is no such policy
2) But, when done per policy, they eat almost free.
3) And, based upon CM discretion, they can eat free.
4) The official rules:
. . . kids under three can eat off the adult's plate
. . . if they order anything, like milk, they are supposed to pay for it
. . . if they order any food, they are supposed to pay for it
. . . this is anywhere, including buffets
5) What really happens:
. . at buffets & AYCTE kids actually "eat buffet food free"
. . . . . . adults could get the food, instead and give it to the kid
. . . . . . the adult could claim it is their plate kid eats from
. . . . . . they might as well have a drink, for same reason
. . . . . . it's tough to determine it was theirs or their parents
. . . . . . thus, kids can have their own plate and beverage without charge
. . at non-buffet, servers can determine if they ordered food
. . . . . . it is easy to tell if they got a drink
. . . . . . the server usually charges for food ordered for the kid
. . . . . . the server usually let's the drink go, but not food
. . . . . . the server, at their own discretion, can charge for beverage
6) So, to wrap-up, in practical terms
. . . at non-buffets, kids under-3 eat without charge ONLY from parent's plate
. . . at buffets & AYCTE, they can actually take food from the buffet table or separate plate
. . . at all meals, items are ordered for the child "might" be charged for them
7) Please remember to add your child to the table count.
. . . if there are four adults and a child, that needs an ADR for five people
. . . this is regardless whether the child is lap, stroller, highchair, or regular chair
. . . also, if the baby makes six people, the AUTOMATIC 18% GRATUITY is in effect
. . . no automatic gratuity at CRT-HDDR-LUAU-BBQ, as tips are already included in the meal price

We just returned, and our DD is 2, therefore not on the DP. We were charged for her food at Yak and Yeti and BOG, we didn't pay for her at the HDDR and Ohanas, and she stayed with a sitter on when we went to La Hacienda and Narcoosee's so I don't know if they would have charged for her at those places.

Our experience when our youngest was under 3, was that he was free at all the Buffet or AYCTE places and we just made him up a plate too. Most of the time they offered to bring him a drink at no charge (I don't remember a time they didn't, but I know that it's not always the case). Once they offered him his own kids meal at no charge, and we declined because we knew that he and his brother wouldn't eat 1 whole kids meal between them so there was no reason for more food. We did, however, take the same server up on his own build-your-own-sundae (at no charge) as we knew that there would be disagreement between them over which toppings to put on if they shared. He and his brother shared at other meals and if we needed to give extra food off our plates we did. There were 6 adults and the 2 kids, so plenty of food to go around. No one ever left a meal hungry! Disney portions are usually quite large. Many times we had two adults sharing a CS meal as it is a lot of food on the DDP, so I think that you will find it very easy to feed your under 3. We also had plenty of snack credits and would use those for a snack for him as well. The new rules make sharing even easier at CS, as you can just drink water or use your mug when at a resort CS and use the drink credit for an additional side that your LO would eat. You are also welcome to use a snack credit to get a side for the LO as well. Lots of options!
