How does FP+ work?

This question may have be somewhere out there and I am sorry if it is and I just can't find it. I am at my 60 days to book our FP+ I am so confused as how it actually works. I went to book A&E yesterday and I had to book all 3 of my FP at one time. There are 7 of us going and don't want to book the same things for all 7 people. I am so confused. Help please?
