How does Disney notify you of a "member cruise" on DCL?

We're new members...only a few months now. We're also huge DCL fans. What could be more perfect than a DVC/DCL cruise?

I was wondering if any of you know how/when Disney notifies members of an upcoming DVC cruise...thanks!!

They notified us when we were on the last cruise, they also posted on website and in vacation magic via email.

The next cruise is 10/22-10/26 of 2006, the ship is full but you can get on the waitlist.

You should get multiple notifications before the next cruise. These cruises book quickly, usually the first day of offering and usually the first four or five hours of that first day, so if you decide you want to cruise, you need to call early and prepare to call often (a lot of busy signals) and hope you get lucky.

We are brand new DVC'ers and are, too, interested in the Members Cruise. I have tried the "search" feature using "members cruise" but always get a "server too busy, try again" message, so sorry to both you all with a few more questions here .....

Do the notifications come some time before the day they start to accept bookings? Having not done this before, I'm worried they'll send notifications they same day they open for bookings and I'll be at work and the ship will be full by the time I get home!!!! Do any of the travel agencies, like DU, take names then are willing to do the "ressie" for you when the bookings open? Of course, this would be for the 2007 cruise.

If anyone has been on a Members Cruise, could you share your experience or link to where to find reviews? Sorry for all the questions and thanks in advance!

** Yes they do. They will notify members of the call in date ahead of time.

** No, this can't be done. Since DVC charters the boat from DCL , DVC needs to make the reservation.

** You asked for a link.

Mark and Mary Gums have great info on their site

I've been on the other 2 cruises as well.

The first Cruise was great, There was signs all over along with DVC embedded in items like Ice and watermelon. There was a special offer for those to join the Collectors Society and also get exclusive pins if you joined, along with the figurine that came when you joined.
We got tshirts for our castaway cay picture and a tea pot and 2 exclusive member cruise pins.

The second cruise was excellent again plenty of DVC signs,
When we got in there were gifts in the room. There were limited pins given each night. Each night also had a theme. My husband and I got to eat dinner with Jim Lewis and Christopher White because we added on points our first night. They also had Chef Gordon and Ducky Williams and Christopher White do talks for us. Jim Lewis also had an event where he had a "interview" and previewed upcoming stuff. Also Art Linkletter was there as well.

If you have any questions and don't mind stopping by our thread, I encourage you to ask there http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=904870

Also you can Google 2003 DVC member cruise along with 2005 member cruise and read those links as well.

Is there any specific reason the member cruise fills up so quickly? Is there a special deal? I would love to take DCL, but so far I haven't come across an affordable way to do so.

No deal on DVC member cruises, in fact the points are a little higher but if you read reviews DVC makes it worth the extra cost.

Juliet: The only discount I know on DCL is the FL. resident rate.

I know there was talk about the upcoming member cruise at the annual condo meetings for the dates and the call in time and such. So they give you decent notice. Plus it will be on the boards here as well.

Just want to say THANK YOU for the complete, thorough and excellent replies! Very helpful!!
