How does booking at 7th month work with waitlist

We are planning a split stay and currently have a 2 night and 7 night reservation. At the 7 month mark we want to swap the 2 night at our home resort to 2 nights at animal kingdom lodge.

As I understand it I can modify our 2 night reservation to switch it over. However, the nights we want at animal kingdom only have 1 available and 1 waitlist only. How would that work exactly if I am trying to modify a 2 night stay into a 1 night with 1 waitlist. Will I get a 1 night with 1 night on the waitlist then. Or will my 2 night reservation be preserved until I get the results of the waitlist.?

You have some choices. You can book the one night if you have other points, and then put in a waitlist for the missing night and set it up to replace the 2 nights. If it fills, you would then call Ms and have them combine the two.

Or, you simple set it up as a waitlist for both nights to replace what you have, even though one night is there. They don’t hold that night for you though.

To put in the waitlist for both nights with one there, just choose both nights from the calendar again. When setting it up, if what you want is more points, you can set it up to cancel 7 days prior. If it is less, set it up to 31 days.

Then choose it to replace the current 2 nights you have!

Thanks I will end up doing option 1. I had not thought of that. I have enough points for 1 extra night right now. So I'll book that 1 available night right away and do a waitlist for the other night replacing the current 2 night backup reservation I have.

Just be sure to set it up to cancel 31 days out so you don’t end up with any holding points.
