How do you use the DAS, DAS advance in conjunction with Genie Plus and ILL? very overwhelmed to say the least right now trying to understand this all and wonder how to manage it.

You don't have to use Genie+ or ILL with DAS. DAS gets you on every ride without it (with the semi-exception to Gaurdians at Epcot which you need a boarding group for first). You can even get a DAS return time for the parade and certain character meet and greets.

DAS, Genie+ and ILL$ are 3 entirely separate programs. While all 3 utilize the same queue at the attractions, each is different. You may use 1 or 2 or all 3 (or none).
  • DAS works the same as always, just that you can now obtain the DAS Return Time via MDE instead of going directly to the attraction. DAS Return Time is based on the posted standby wait, and as always you may only have 1 at a time.
    • DAS Advanced Selections are pre-planned if you do advanced registration for DAS via video chat. It's sort of like the old FP+ that was booked in advance, except you have less say in what/when. They'll ask for your choices and preferred time(s), but those times may or may not align with your actual in-park needs each day. Many folks let the DAS Advanced Selections expire.
    • I recommend checking out THIS THREAD pinned near the top of this forum.
  • Genie+ you buy each day, or only for certain days (many only use it for MK and DHS). The cost varies by date but I think the range is $15-$25; this covers all G+ attractions at both your reserved park and any hopping -- but is not ALL attractions at each park. Anytime after midnight you purchase it but I think many purchase at about 6:45am, then at 7am you can make the first Genie+ selection. Return Times begin in the AM and move forward throughout the day -- how quickly that occurs depends on the popularity of the attraction. If you wanted to ride around a specific time, you would need to keep monitoring G+ until the return times hit that point. In other words, you likely can't reserve Pirates for 5pm at 7am. There's a big thread on the TPAS forum with a lot of information, tips, suggestions.
  • Paid LL, or abbreviated ILL$ on DISboards, is 1 attraction per park. The most popular. You can buy it or not, again cost varies by date. Starting at 7am if you are staying onsite, or after park opening if staying offsite. If you have park hoppers you can buy a max of 2 ILL$ per day.
Guardians is the only attraction that has no standby. To ride, one must obtain either a virtual queue at 7am (or 1pm) or purchase a ILL$. Once you have obtained a boarding group by way of either of those options, when your boarding group time arrives you can then show DAS. But DAS cannot be used for this attraction without either a virtual queue or ILL$ boarding group.

I'm going to venture a guess that most guests do not use both Genie+ and ILL$, at least not for every day of their visit. If you have members of your party who will want attractions that the DAS-holder doesn't ride, G+ and/or ILL$ may be quite helpful.

Where does someone go with a DAS return time for the parade? What does booking this get you, a separate viewing spot?

So basically I am the DAS holder. There are many rides I cannot ride. 2 others in our party would ride those rides. So it's probably best to just get them ILL or Genie+ for those park days? Is there any circumstance where a DAS holder might need genie +?

TRON Lightcycle / Run (soft open until 4/2, officially opens 4/4) operates this way also.

Possibly. It really just depends on the DAS-holder and what they want to do. If someone has a DAS Return Time that is 2+ hours out, they might use Genie+ or $ILL for some other attractions while waiting.
Good point thank you. Makes sense.

What do you mean re 7am or 1pm? I am really lost when it come to boarding group, etc.
At this time, to ride either Guardians or TRON one must secure either a "virtual queue" spot or purchase a $LL. There is no standby queue that guests can just walk up and wait in line to ride. DAS only works if you have obtained a VQ (virtual queue) slot - which give you a "boarding group" and you go to the attraction at the time your boarding group is called.

The virtual queue slots are released at 7am for anyone who has a theme park reservation at the respective park (EP for Guardians or MK for Tron). There is another set of virtual queue slots released at 1pm and available to anyone who has already entered the respective park that day and did not get a VQ at 7am. I believe the Guardians VQ has remained available past 2pm most days so those who are park-hopping do have a chance at VQ for Guardians. Reports in the past week or so are that Tron VQ slots go very quickly at both drop times, with nothing available to those who park-hop to MK at 2pm or later. Also be aware that TRON has been strict on the 1-hour window for the boarding groups, it can't be held to use later in the day.

That is what we do. My guys get Genie+ because there are so many rides I am not able to ride

I have been told and used it a number of times that the handicap places are also for DAS. If it is full they will ask none mobile divide to stand in the back

You just show up sometimes they ask to see the das in the app
