How do you travel with Magic Bands?

I leave the box at home and carry the Bands in my backpack. When we get to the Magical Express, I give each grandkid his/her Band. That way I don't have to worry about one of them leaving his/her Band on the plane.

I'm glad to hear they're fine through security. Last year I just stuck the band in my purse and put it on at my resort but I would much rather put it on before I leave and not have to think about it!

Travel with them just like a wristwatch - and yes you do need to take them off going through security. Ours will be going in my travel watch case.

I never have to take off my watch for security. That's one of those things best left until someone tells you to take it off. :)

But I'd never wear a MB through security. I have them, I've used them, but I dislike them, and I'm NOT wearing them anywhere off of WDW property, that's for sure!

(kept seeing people wearing them at Uni which mystified me, and I just hope hope and hope some more that the Uni marketing people come up with a "watchband cover" or something like that, in Uni designs, that can be used on MBs....oh that would be glorious...)

no actually you don't have to take them off during security.
just as you don't have to take off a watch, rings, earrings, tongue rings, belly button rings.... the magic band is treated as other jewelry which does not need to be taken off during security and in fact most airports i've been to actually tell people numerous times to keep their jewelry/watches ON.

We wear ours. The only time they come off is at security like everyone else has said. If you are afraid you could loose one put them in a carry on bag or purse/backpack. I always put mine in the same security bin as my tablet (gotta watch disney movies on the flight) and have had no issues through the scanner/xray machine and put it back on when I get my tablet at the other side.

I do happen to make the metal detector go off because of an injury I sustained while in Iraq. I have 2 screws and a pin in my shoulder holding it together. I always take my medical documents so it makes the process quicker. It's funny watching peoples faces as I'm pulled to the side, patted down, metal detector wanded, etc.. I guess I find humor where others do not.

We put our bands on as we left for the airport. We didn't need to take them off for security. It was nice to have them on and just walk up to ME. I saw many families stopping before ME to dig through their carryons.

I should perhaps clarify: the TSA at LGA Central Terminal gives me a pat-down if I leave a wristwatch on, which I'd rather avoid. I also have a spare pair of glasses that will earn myself a pat-down as well. I don't have any metal in my body, but I fly often enough that I've forgotten about a wristwatch several times and it's happened every time I've gone through with one on.

I have a loop strap inside my backpack that I use as a carry on and I attached them to that. When we got off the plane in Orlando we put them on since that was when the vacation officially began.
I always wear a watch through security and have never gotten a pat down but I have noticed that some airports are much stricter than others with what is ok and what isn't.

We’ve only traveled with them once so far. I have two key rings attached inside my carry-on. I attached our Magic Bands linked together to one until we landed in Orlando. We put them on then. Gave the children something to talk about while we were waiting for the plane to clear a bit before getting off.

I plan on wearing ours on the flight down there. Handing them out before we headout to the airport is going to be get the kids so amped up.

I plan on telling them that MB's NEVER come off. I'm going to treat them as an all inclusive wristband.

I bring them all in my carry on backpack. If I give them to the kids to early they will definitely lose them. DS (4) would take it off in the park constantly where we were always checking him after rides going "does he still have it on? he didn't lose it did he?"

I put ours in a ziplock baggy and putting them in my carry-on. I wish they would lay flat though, would make them a little easier to pack!

I had to laugh at this because this was me with my son (also 4 at the time) all during our last trip. And the more he took it off, the easier it became for him to remove it. I felt for him because he also had an "in case I'm lost" band on his other arm because it no longer fit on his ankle. Thinking it was too much, I tried just carrying his magic band; but because he loved using it he always wanted it back. "I won't take it off again, I promise."

Really hoping not to have to deal with that on our upcoming trip.

I left mine in my luggage until we got there, but I think my husband wore his. Like a PP said, you will need to take it off and put it in the little bin with your wallet, keys, etc. when you go through security if you wear it.

I purchased several small cosmetic bags at the dollar store and gave one to each of my sons (to share with their GF's) and one for my DH and myself to share. They keep the bands in one place and we put the bags in our carryon. I really hate wearing the bands more than I have to and it makes them easy to find.

Love the "I won't take it off again, I promise" b/c I def. heard this at least a dozen times a day. I've already figured that if this is going to be the back-and-forth we have this year, I'm just going to keep his active magic band in my pocket and let him fiddle with one of the inactive ones we have. It is a funny give and take though isn't it?

I put them (out of the box) in my pack to carry one. We usually take 2-3 each

Thank you all for your responses, they helped a lot. We are traveling with a 4yo autistic child so I definitely can relate to the "I won't take it off again, I promise", heard this last year, his mother wound up putting it on her chain around her neck or attached it to her tank top sleeve! LOL:teeth: I completely forgot about needing them for DME which we are using. I'm glad I asked, the DIS never DISappoints!:thanks:
