I need to send a few videos that I took of my computer acting up and send them to HP.

I have never sent video. To make matters worse, I'm using Windows 8!

Spent far too much time on this hunk of junk to try and figure it out myself.

TIA

Guess I should have checked about getting the video onto the computer first. Hours later I find out that Windows does not support my Camcorder Suite. Didn't spend all that time just on the camcorder stuff. I was setting up the printer so I can print from the computer again.

More trouble than it's worth. Doubt the case manager would do anything after seeing the video anyway.

Wasted so much time on this hunk of junk computer.

You can install a program (free) called classic shell and that will add the start button back to win 8. Personally, i loathe 8 and dumped it and installed 7 on two computers. I loathed it when i tried an Alpha version, a Beta version and now in wide release i still loathe it... If you totally can't stand 8 order a copy of win 7 off the web and install it onto the computer. If you check the manufacturers website for your computer i bet they will also list win 7 drivers (should be the same as win 8 drivers). In a couple hours and less then $100 you could be back up again and much more comfortable. Download the drivers first from the web, put them on a usb key then install win 7. Any items that did not auto install you should have the drivers on your usb key.

Are you trying to access website on ie10 through the app version/

If so, you can set it to open on desktop like old windows did.

In Internet Explorer:

Tools - Internet Options - tab Programs - select in the dropdown box Always Open Internet Explorer on the Desktop. Make sure box under that is unchecked for Open Internet tiles on the Desktop.

To slightly get around the initial windows startup tile screen:

First, while on tile screen, right click near bottom right and click All Apps. This will put all tiles visible.

thenk, Right click on any frequently used tiles and select "Pin to Taskbar"

After that, click on the tile for Desktop. you will notice icons along the bottom for all the things you just pinned.

for example, I pinned:
Internet Explorer
Windows Explorer
Control Panel
Task Manager
Windows Defender
Photoshop
Outlook
Word
Excel

So now, when I logon to windows, I just click on the Desktop tile and I am in a version of Windows that I am used to.

I think you said you used Yahoo email, so I guess you access that through internet explorer. But if you use Outlook or other mail program, you can access default programs:

Control Panel: Programs - Default Programs. Then set how you want the default programs to access/open.

Are you past your return window with Best Buy? (IIRC you said you're past the dispute window with your CC)

Might be worth complaining against best buy, since HP hasn't helped you at all.

Thanks for posting the link to that classic shell. I just downloaded it. Love it.

Cool. That makes 8 more useable. The only other catch, to get to your drives you can't go to "My computer" anymore so you click on the file folder icon to the left bottom of the screen and that gives you the same as my computer. Another funky thing, if it auto opens a window, to close it you have to move the mouse to the top of the window, click and hold, a hand will appear and grab the page. Then you drag the whole thing to the bottom right corner and it will close. Good luck.

It was a pain, but I found the software needed for the camcorder online and downloaded it.

I sent off an e-mail to the case worker, I guess he received it and has sent out a copy of the software.

I did a system recovery on the computer a few days ago and had to re-install some stuff and update drivers, Windows, etc. A big pain. I still don't have the games that originally came on my computer but now I don't have any blank webpages (at least so far). However I can't enter some of the contests that I like to enter. One said there is a connection problem (don't see how as I'm using the internet every few minutes on other sites and it's fine).
