How do you store your physical photo albums?

I understand that some people have digitized all their pictures and don't keep physical photo albums anymore, and others may have grown up in the digital age and didn't have photo albums in the first place.

But for those who have physical photo albums and prefer to keep them, have you found a storage system that works well for you?

I don't want to put mine on a bookshelf, because they would get dusty.

If I keep them in boxes, it's a bit of a hassle to take them out and look at them.

I was thinking the ideal way to store them might be in a cabinet with doors to keep the dust out, but I haven't found a suitable cabinet for this, that has good dimensions to accommodate photo albums. Do you know of one?

Or do you have some other way of storing them?

My just sit on the top shelf of my bedroom closet. I have had them down a few times never noticed a lot of dust on them . If they are in albums the pictures pages don’t get dust on them for sure.

I love photos that I can hold in my hand so the kids have a ton when they were small. Even have them sorted as who’s books are who’s . So when I’m gone don’t have to sort any.

Bookshelf. Eventually we will have to digitize them, some are already on Ancestry and Facebook.
My wife has just finished transferring 35 years of VHS and VHSC home movies to CD and has started uploading them to a Cloud.

I bought albums with slip covers that stack nicely on a book shelf that my husband custom built to fit the albums.
I put a lot of time and money into organizing 38 years of photos. I scanned all the photos as well.
My guess is my kids will toss them all in the dumpster when I expire!!

That's my dread.
DD will be better about keeping them. DS and DIL probably not so much.
I haven't scanned but they are all saved on a hard drive.....those before such things, are not.
My pictures go back to the late 1800s.

All my WDW photo albums are on book shelf.
My wedding albums are on a book shelf.
My other photo albums I disassembled and put the photos in photo box’s and those are labeled and in a closet.

In a few boxes in the closet. What we have found is that over time you tend to look at them less and less so there is really no reason to put them in a cabinet on display in the living room. We looked at some older pictures my grandparents left when they passed away and honestly, most of the people in their pictures we have no idea who they are (likely friends of theirs from long ago we probably never met).

I can't honestly ever remember visiting any of our relatives and looking at old photo albums. None of them had them on 'display' as far as I can recall.

I think if they are stored in boxes, we look at them less because it's a hassle to dig through the boxes (not just because of lack of interest), but if they are stored in cabinets or shelves, we may look at them a little more often. YMMV.

Most are digital and stored on hard drives (in a fire safe) or on the cloud. The physical ones are in plastic storage bins in a closet. We are soon going to get a storage unit and will move them there, most likely.

I have many many albums which I keep in either an enclosed bookcase or a big plastic tote with a cover. My many most recent pics from the past few years are now on some cloud on the computer which my sons helped me put together.

Where did you get the enclosed bookcase?
