How do you store your lenses?

I finally broke down an bought a bag to hold all my stuff(Lowepro Nova 4). How should lenses be kept in a bag? Front of lens up or down or does it not matter?

I usually shove mine in face down. That's because I often pop the rear cover off the lens, pull the lens off my camera body, put the old lens in the bag, pop the new lens on the body, and then put the rear cover on the old lens in the bag.

i put mine in face first...mainly because occasionally a lens cap pops off and i don't want it exposed if it does, that way the lens is still sitting on the cap and protected. i should but don't usually put them in the little bags that come with them since i am always hurrying to pull them out and that is just one more step,

I used to put mine face down, otherwise I found that when grabbing a lens in a hurry sometimes the lens cap would pop off and I'd end up with fingerprints on the front lens element.. I currently have my extra lenses horizontaly placed with one on top of another, it's the only way I could fit 4 extra lenses in my bag...

I have no preference. Honestly, often times I am changing lenses in such a rush that I couldn't possibly take the moment to think about it.

that's where my hub comes in,,he's the official carrier/.putt-er away and usually sitting on the nearest bench bored so he has plenty of time to do it "right"
