How do you sleep your toddlers at WDW?

This is probably a wierd question, but I'm actually a little unsure as to what I should do. We are traveling in May with two-year-old twins. Right now they both sleep in a crib at home (not sure what they will be doing by May). When we went on vacation last summer they both slept in pak-n-plays. That worked well, but they are too big for those now. I wasn't planning on renting two cribs for our vacation, so does anyone have any suggestions? I'm thinking that one will sleep with me and one will sleep with my DH (actually they'll both probably sleep with me  - lucky for DH), but I'm afraid they'll fall out of the bed. Can I request bed rails or something for their side of the bed? They have never, ever slept in our bed so this will be a totally new experience for them. If you have any other suggestions I'd appreciate them too.

I think most of the Disney hotels have bedrails you can request. Good luck!

My 3 yr old is really small so he usually sleeps in the pack n play. DD (soon to be 5) and DS (9) sleep on the hide a bed. We are DVC members, but if there are two beds they sleep together. Sometimes DD sleeps with me adn DH with DS. I tend to kinda hold the kids when they sleep with me, so falling off the bed is not really a problem. HTH

They do have bed rails upon request but I was told they weren't guaranteed (depending on demand) which makes me nervous.

We purchased a great child -sized air mattress from One Step Ahead. It comes with an electric pump. My son calls it his "hotel" bed and uses it whenever he has to sleep away from home. He finds it very comfortable and it's very easy for us to travel with and to set up.

My DS-2 absolutely hated a crib. Hes been in a bed since he was about 12 months old. He wouldnt even sleep in a toddler bed!!! So we dont have that problem. Our vaca in September, he'll sleep with me and my DD-6 will sleep with her daddy.....

We, too, had this dilemma with our two year old twins. The good news is, that a lot can change by May. You can try a few things out before your trip. The air mattress thing on the floor worked for us for a while, but nowadays, they actually like the regular hotel bed (just the two of them together) and we prop pillows around them. No fall-outs yet. And if you're still not 100% then just do the one with DH, one with you thing. Good luck and have a great trip!

Our little guy will be 19 months when we are there in February. He still sleeps fine in a Pack N Play, but I was more concerned about him sleeping if we have lights on, etc. We have borrowed a PeaPod http://www.kidco.com/main.taf?p=4,5 from a friend, and are trying it out this week to see how he does in it. If all goes well, we will be getting one to take on our trip. I really like the idea that you can make it a dark environment for them, even if others in the room are awake- and that it will take up less space than the pack n play.

(We set it up Friday, just to get him used to seeing it/getting in it, etc. Well my DS5 loves it so much, he is sleeping in it for the 3 night in a row. I told DH that if he likes it so much, maybe we should take it for him, put the baby in a pack and play as planned, and we can actually get a king bed for us.:rotfl2: :rotfl2: )

I'm so glad this question has been posted! We will be traveling next September with our then 18 month old twins(there only 9 months old now) and our 5 yr old. I have been obessing with this thought in my head since we put down our deposit! Since their so young now and its still 9 months until we travel I have no idea what they will be like by then. We will be staying at CSR and since they have now went to 2 queen beds in a standard room rather then 2 full beds like the other mods I'm thinking we will have more room. I'm also wondering if they have bed rails? I'm hoping that we could put all 3 kids in a queen bed with rails? My twins hate the pack n play!!!! So I think even if they fit in one that will never work. Help, any suggestions? Its nice there is so many other moms with twins:goodvibes

Thanks in advance,
Tiffany

We have three kids under 5. Whenever we stay in a hotel, they think it is their opportunity to sleep with mom and dad. Usually one sleeps with me and the other two with their dad. We tried to put two of them in a bed with rails and one in a Pack and Play during our last trip and that didn't last long. We are hoping they might go for it during our next trip this April, but we aren't counting on it! Usually the kids toss and turn too much for me at night, but when we go to Disney, we are all so tired at the end of the day that we all fall right asleep.

Our toddler sleeps in a toddler bed ....so we just brought a travel cot from walmart...the regalgo cot and he will sleep on that. It's only a few inches off the ground and folds up very easily

When we went in Sept. we pushed the bed against the wall every night and put DD2 against the wall. we had to make room for twin airmatress. DD4 wasn't totally night trained, so I wanted him on the plastic bed.

Took a 3 year old and a 2 year old last summer (flew). We bought 2 single blow up aero beds and packed them and one portable pump in our bags. At night they slept on the floor (with blankets and sheets of course) at the foot of the bed and the Aero bed fitst perfect. They had a armior on one side of them and a bed on the other. Perfect sleeping week.

We booked at POR and requested an Alligator Bayou room w/ a trundle bed. Ds (then 2yo) slept on the trundle no problem.

When DD (now 7) was almost two, we pushed one of the beds tight against the wall and I slept on the outside.

We discovered this past summer that my son (1.5 at the time) wouldn't sleep in a pack n play anymore. Anytime we go anywhere he's in the bed with us. We just returned from CSR and we didn't have a problem getting the bedrails. In fact, they delivered an extra set we didn't need. Our only problem was getting him to sleep. However, after the second night he just started to fall asleep on the bus ride home. Problem solved. Pack their pjs and put them on before you leave the park for the night.

We have a 5 yr old and a 2 yr old and we use AeroBeds. They have a toddler/kid bed that are perfect. We had to buy a second one this year as our DD was ready to have her own "travel bed".
They pack up into a bag really easily. We put both in one large duffle, it worked great.
Bed come with a nice soft fleece sheet type cover. We throw in a blanket and pillow from home so they have there own things.

Here's a pic from Amazon

I am surprised how often these beds come in handy.

Do the cribs that Disney offers look comfortable enough for a toddler to sleep in? I was given a Pack n Play on our last cruise to use and I had to put pillows down then some cover to make it decent enough for our little one to sleep on?

Thanks

I am so glad this topic came up. I have been wondering what we'll do!!!

We are going in April with DS9 and 2 yr old twins.
The twins have been in toddler beds since they were 18 mo and sleep w/ us occasionally. We were thinking of having one in bed w/ dad & one w/ me, and DS9 on an air mattress.
Other thought was to request a King bed and have all 3 kids sleep on mattresses, but will probably end up in bed with us. I looked at those cute kids mattresses & sleeping bags things.

Is there room on the floor for 3 small mattresses?
Or if we get 2 double beds, is there room for another mattress on the floor?
We are staying at AS Movies.

2 to 3 years old, they were able to sleep in a pack N Play we brought with us.

Over 3, DS would sleep with DH and DD would sleep with me in the bed. Because we drove, we would bring a bed rail with us. Since our kids were 4 years apart, we only needed 1 bedrail.

We always made sure to test it a few nights before we left to make sure the kids were starting to get used to sleeping in a bed with a rail.
DS had no issues but DD - phew - that girl didn't want to go to sleep. She was just so excited to share a bed with Mommy. :rotfl:

my 2yr old sleeps in the beds. He slept in a toddler bed (no rails) at home since he was just a year and finally we got him a twin bed and he sleeps on that with no rails. He's never fallen out of bed. If your child sleeps hard there isn't any reason to assume they will fall out of bed. If your child is all over the place in the crib then yeah it might be a good idea for at least one bed rail.
