Just for the heck of speculation, what are your opinions on the future of 2042 resales?
I'll start with the thoughts that are rambling in my mind. First, I'll say that I just added on 151 points at OKW directly through Disney for one of the 2057 contracts at $96 per point. My husband and I originally wanted OKW in the beginning of our membership, but decided against it because of the earlier expiration in comparision to SSR. Being that we are in our 20s, those extra years are valuable to us.
The two of us have always loved OKW and orginally stayed there for our Disney Wedding and Honeymoon. During the planning process of our wedding, I became a part of online Disney wedding communities, filled with plenty of young couples that were renting points to stay at the DVC resorts with the 2042 expirations. Obviously, being a group of Disney lovers, the great majority of these young couples wish to be DVC owners at some point when they have the finances to do so......This all leads me to wonder if this younger generation will head directly to Disney for their DVC purchases because of the longer contracts?
:
I'm sure there are other Generation Xers, aside from the Disney Wedding groups, who have intentions of buying DVC. My thought is that there are proabably others like the two of us, that may ponder an OKW resale with the intention of doing the extension, only to find out that it is less expensive to go directly through Disney.
What does this do to the OKW contracts that declined the extension, if they go on the resale market? How long will they sit there? Will BWV and BCV owners see multiple OKW contracts that stagnate on the market and take the offered extension immediately in order to insure their resale value in the event it became necessary to sell?
As we know, we're all getting older, not younger and there are always new folks coming into the DVC community. Is it possible that many of them are within my age group and looking for contracts that have a little more life in them?
