I want to try some new things but I have no idea where to begin. How do you pick the brand to go with ?

I would go to the department store go to the make up counters for free make up application. Go to a couple different ones, this will take a few visits as I wouldn't want to go from counter to counter. I don't use one specific company. I like Prescriptives for foundations and moisturizers and Bobbie Brown for colors and Mabeline for lashes.

i'm a major drug store impulse buyer. I've been thinking about hitting a department store for a makeover. I want to go to a few different counters too. I'm just wondering how hard it will be to walk away without a purchase til I try a few brands to decide what I want.

go to sephora and start playing.
:)

that store totally turned me into a makeup junkie.

if you are wondering about other's opinions on some makeup...a good resource to check out is www.makeupalley.com

I love MAC for eye makeup colors. I have just recently started using their shadow and the colors are more intense and easier to blend than alot of other brands. That said, I do like to experiment with color, so if I do tend to buy a lot of drugstore (esp. maybelline) eyeshadow. Of the drugstore brands, I like Maybelline the best. I find that they are affordable and have some of the best shades.

I shop online at Sephora for the brand Body and Soul!!! I love their products

I pick lots of different brands, both drug store and department store. Don't feel like you have to stick with one brand. I like different things from different companies.
And be sure to save your receipt no matter where you buy from, most places will allow you to exchange if you get something you aren't happy with.
I get alot of good ideas from magazines.

well I sell Avon so I always use their products.. You can even look on their website to see how to pick color shades and apply it ;)

I'm trying the 3 different colors to your eye with eyeshadow but the first 2 times I applied all the eyeshadow I looked like a Raccoon :earseek:

ELF.com there stuff is alright for the price. $1 I really like the lip glosses they have. When I am on a budget and need something new this is where I shop.

I switched to Bare Escentuals foundation a few months ago and have gradually been replacing my makeup with this company's products. I switched when I discovered that liquid foundations were the cause of my continued acne breakouts. I find the BE products to be very kind to my breakout prone, mild rosacea, sensitive skin. It is also very light, but covers my red-prone areas well. It is very different and takes some time to get used to. Sephora sells a starter kit if you are interested. QVC also has BE products and has a generous 30-day return period (which I've never used). Also, there are some free-standing BE boutiques. I can honestly say that I am having more fun with my makeup than I did as a teen! I just feel so girlie and love it when my hubby tells me I'm pretty.
