Hello-

I bought on ebay 50 pins for 50.00, but now that I have received them I'm not so sure that they can be traded at the parks. They are of tinkerbell, snowwhite set etc...they are stamped disney on the back but they are not the heavy metal I thought they would be. Bought them from Spain, he said they were tradeable but I'm not so sure how could you tell ? Thanks

This is direct from WDW...

Mickey's Guidelines for Disney Pin Trading

Guests may trade a maximum of two (2) pins per each Cast Member wearing a Pin Trading lanyard.

A minimum of 12 different Disney pins should be maintained on the Pin Trading lanyard.

The main criteria to judge whether a pin is tradable or not is that the pin must be a metal pin that represents a Disney Event, Location, Character, or Icon. The following pins cannot be displayed on lanyards or traded:

Disney Service pins
Disney Trainer pins
Disney Partners in Excellence pins
Guest Relations Hostess/Host Pin
Walt Disney World Ambassador Program Pin
Cast Member name tags
Disney language pins
Any "name pin"
Rubber, plastic, and non-metal Disney pins.
Some pins from our Operating Participants are tradable. Tradable pins must represent the Operating Participant in a way that has a specific Disney or Walt Disney World (R) Resort affiliation.

Some Operating Participants have national or international exposure. A pin from Planet Hollywood Orlando is acceptable for trading. A pin from Planet Hollywood Los Angeles is not.

The Cast Member may accept only one like pin per Guest. For example, if a Guest offers a particular Eeyore pin in trade, the Guest may not offer that exact Eeyore pin style for an additional trade.

The Cast Member should encourage each Guest to offer a pin in trade that is not already displayed on the Cast Member's lanyard.

Trades should be conducted "hand to hand". Cast Members may not remove a pin from a Guest's person or property, nor should a Guest remove a pin from the Cast Member's lanyard.

Trade one Disney pin at a time. Always hand the Guest a pin with the back attached.

No monies, gifts, or receipts may be exchanged for a Disney pin, for either a pin on the Cast Member's lanyard or for a personal pin that belongs to the Cast Member.

While on stage and in costume, Cast Members should not trade any of their personal pins with Guests, trade pins with other Cast Members wearing the pin trading lanyard, and trading backstage is unacceptable.

If a Guest chooses to trade with the Cast Member during a sales transaction, first complete the sales transaction, close the cash register drawer and then proceed with the trade.

Always contact your leader or the local area Pin Trading Advocate for your property if a Guest asks you a question or has a request that you cannot fulfill.

In addition to the 12 pins displayed on Cast Member lanyards, some Cast Members may wear a "Showcase" pin. These "Showcase" pins are for demonstration purposes to our Guests and are not available for trade.
