How do you keep your water cold?

This may be a silly question. I hadn't even thought of bringing our own bottled water to the parks until reading it here in the tips. Now I'm just wondering how you keep your water cold while you're out in the heat all day? Hot water=yucky!

Open the water bottle and take a sip or two before freezing to allow for expansion. Place the frozen bottle in a soda can huggie and them wrap the whole thing is a small cloth towel.

I put this in my backpack and head off to the park. It lasts for several hours.

Use a stainless steel reusable/portable water bottle and fill with mostly ice (at your resort) and some water in the morning. Refill with a cup of ice at CS locations during the day. Ask for or buy a cup of ice - you'll only be paying for the cup likely which would be nominal.

We don't get a fridge in our room (value resort) but we always have a cooler with tons of ice to keep drinks, milk, cheese, etc. cold in our room. The cooler does an excellent job of keeping our bottled water cold, almost to the point of brain freeze! The bag we carry into the parks has a compartment on the bottom that is insulated. We put our cold water bottles, as well as any medications and gum in that particular compartment. I was actually surprised at how cold it kept our bottles throughout the day.

When our bottled water gets too warm, we stop at a QS counter and ask for a cup of ice to pour it into.

Never once have I been charged for it or for the occasional cup of ice water.

I now usually just leave the bottles behind and get ice water at the QS counters when we need it. Less to carry!!

I grew up in FL and the water tastes fine to me. DH and DD grew up in Ohio and even they have no qualms about it.

What kind of bag is it? I have been looking for a backpack with a insulanted section. Thanks!

Hi! Can you tell me what type of bag this is? I am looking for a new bag to bring to the parks and usually carry a backpack. Thanks!

I have two theories when it comes to carrying water. One, don't worry about bringing or carrying any bottled water. All counter services will give you a full size glass of ice water upon asking. My second option is a bladder pack/hydration pak system. The one I use holds a liter of beverage/and or ice. Has a wide mouth opening to easily fill with ice. And the pack has enough room to carry all my day essentials. Hydration packs come in all sizes and needs for everyone. I got mine at Walmart or Target and it is made by Outdoor Products. It has a vapor block layer so cameras, etc wont get wet.

Do the resort refridgerators have a freezer section?

Dont freeze plastic water bottles! It causes chemicals to leak into the water. The chemicals are known to cause cancers, including breast cancer!

Sorry, but that is an urban legend, and is simply not true. The "John Hopkins" email was a hoax. Here is the official press release from John Hopkins.

I only drink bottled water, even at home, so I will be carrying a few bottles of water with me to the parks. I found a backpack on clearance at Kohls for about $23 called the Jansport Hex. It comes in wacky colors but It has a small insulated section that you can put your water bottles in (looks like it holds about 4-6 bottles).

Not sure about the freezing bottle chemical thingy, but for us we froze half full bottles of water, added water to the bottle, wrapped them in foil and a towel from the room and threw them in a bag. The towel came inhandy when it was hot outside because it cooled you down, and when the towel was dry later in the day it was used to sit on at a parade or to dry off after a water ride! :-)

just ask for a cup of ice water at any counter service restaurant. it's cold!

It's actually one we got free at Disneyland back in '05 for applying for a Chase Disney Visa Card at Downtown Disney. My husband and I both applied for one so we got a black one and a blue one. We take them every where with us.

I'm guessing any sports store would have a bag that has some type of insulation in them. Maybe check there?
