How do you keep the magic alive for the rest of the year?

So, it's been over a month since our last trip. I have the pictures on rotation as a screen saver (I alternate between our latest and last Easters trip)

My wife keeps telling me she is in no rush to go back to DLP. The kids ask every day when are we going back.

Doesn't look like we'll be going back this year... or even next year!

How do you hang onto the magic?

Aside from the actual price of our recent trip we blew over a grand in a little over a week. We both work full time but kids don't come cheap so I doubt we'll be able to go on another blow-out trip any time soon.

What do you do? Grab a weekend break here and there or just save for a trip every 18 months or so.

We are all off to Chester for a couple of days soon, the kids are excited about the zoo but I'm like "I wanna go back to DLP!" :lmao:

Post trip blues are hitting me hard I guess...

Have a great time in Chester, it's a lovely place (only around 40 minutes from where I live) and the zoo is incredible.

We are normally at DLRP this week and it feels so strange not to be there, we keep saying 'remember what we were doing this time last year' LOLs - but we are saving very hard for Florida next Easter, not sure if we'll make it but we're trying!

Hello

I know it doesnt even come close but could you plan a homemade "Disney Weekend" for some point in the near future, September perhaps.

-You all pick your favourite films to watch
-Decorate the house ie. Partyrama has Disney themed stuff
-Go to a nearby theme park for the rides
-Dress up as your fave characters
-Have a party tea with Disney soundtracks playing
-Buy a little Disney themed present for each child and turn it into a treasure hunt, drawing maps, maybe dress like pirates of the caribbean (hide chocolate coins around the house too)
-Colouring competition ie. colouringbookpages dot co dot uk
-Have a family sleepover in the lounge
-Get the kids to act out their favourite scenes

Just a few ideas :)

i keep the magic alive by coming on here, having disney screensavers, watching disney dvds and disneyland videos on youtube - and trip planning in advance generally keeps me going!

oh - and listening to disney music :D

I am always suffering from Disney Withdrawal Syndrome! To attempt to relieve it I would prescribe Disney music and parade CDs, watching POTC films, writing and reading trip reports, and the best cure of all - planning the next trip. Hopefully that may ease your symptoms, but I'm afraid there is no cure for your affliction!

Great! I'm hoping to find the American Sweet Shop in Chester the day before. If I had one I'd call it Yankee Doodle Candy :)

Shame you're not going to DLP this year but it'll be well worth it when next year comes :goodvibes

It all sounds like great fun, may try some of those suggestions.

But (kicks dirt and sticks pet lip out) it's just not the same... :lmao:

Been doing most of the above. But Michele glowers at me every time I pick the brochure up :)

I've already said that when we win the lottery we'll be there in a shot!

We'll have to be bacause I'll want to build a replica of the Discovery Arcade in my new mansion :goodvibes

It's called 'Sweets From Heaven' and it's in the Grosvenor Shopping Precinct - can you tell it's a port of call for us too! If I remember rightly it's just past H&M on the left, there is a coffee place nearby as well.

Oh and don't forget to visit the Disney Store! :thumbsup2

Last year I bought a bunch of DLP lollipops, big things! I forbid everyone to eat them because when they were gone, well...:sad1:

POTC has been on every weekend since we got back

Funnily enough, I find it helps to chat away on here, even if I haven't got a trip planned! :rotfl:

After our first WDW trip I couldn't bear to log onto any Disney sites, let alone this one, as I was suffering terrible "cold turkey" :rotfl2: then a friend asked me to help her with some DLRP planning so I returned to the DIS and have been part of the furniture ever since! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

I used to try and plan a trip to either DLP or WDW for about every three years. But I have found that a cheap flight and the one night DLP package can come in very handy for that quick Disney fix. January prices are particularly good if you book now!!

Hello from Chester!! Just a FYI, the Grosvenor Shopping Precinct is now called The Mall - sadly :crazy2:

We do DLP somewhat the budget way, so we can go a lot.
I look at my pictures a lot (especially the food pictures)
I live my life in Disney: Disney towels, Disney sheets, Disney tableware, ...

The DIS board and youtube videos are the best way to get some of the magic back... We don't have a Disneystore in Denmark, if we had one I think I would go there for some disney time as well...

I have disney every day this is my collection :goodvibes
