We are going the end of Sept.
It may be or will be hot.
How do you keep cool?

There were a few threads on this subject on the Disney Tips forum started in early June. Try going back a few pages and you should see them.

We are also going in September, 9/10-17. We were there last year at the same time. Crowds were great, BUT I was miserable due to the heat and humidity. I was looking for any and all suggestions to make me cooler.

i was 7 mos. pregnant when we went in Sept/Oct. last year. It really wasnt so bad. Those fan/misters are great. I think we're getting one for the stroller this year!!

I think that the most important thing in keeping cool is staying hydrated. Drink plenty of water. Don't wait until you are thirsty to drink, as by then dehydration might be setting in. Also, take plenty of breaks in the shade or in a/c shows.

I live in Central Florida, and our baseball coaches always recommend putting an ice cold rag or cool pack on the base of the neck just under the hair line.

ok thanks...I've got some neck bands that have beads in them that expand with water.

Where do I get these mister things?

We picked up our water misting fans at Walmart for about $5 each. They look like a water spritzing bottle with a foam fan attached to the top. Located in the hardware dept of my Walmart (in the fan aisle). I have heard others say they've found them at Target and local drugstores (CVS, Walgreens, etc), and of course WDW sells them as well...for $20.

The fan misters are really great. Also just try and rotate between rides with outdoor waiting area's and indoor rides or rides with cool shaded waiting areas (like ToT - they mist you while you stand there!) I find BTMRR to be the hottest waiting area so maybe do that early in the morning with no lines or at night. Hope it helped!

we stop inside the shop a lot and cool down.

we carry frozen bottled waters.

we have two misty fans (one for each child).

i have the kids were sunscreen so they don't get burn from the sun.

we just wear our flip-flops. this is much comfortable. the sneakers, your feet doesn't breath. we're not out all day, so it's not like we get blisters. but we do bring our sneakers just in case we need them (just leave them in the room).

i sometimes bring my umbrella so we can have some shades, this is good at Epcot and AK where there's not a lot of shades.

putting your hair up helps. having long hair around your neck in the summer sweating is not good, it makes you feel even hotter.

wear light colored clothes.

do the MH (early in the morning to avoid the heat in the afternoon)

from 12-6 we're at our resort (resting, swimming, lunching, taking a break from the heat)

and if we feel like going back out.. we go back out and we are all fresh again, ready to go.

Invest in a fan/mister, they will save your life!! Especially if you are waiting in a line ouside. We usually try to walk in stores when you are getting from one place to another. Sometimes, the stores all connect, so you don't have to walk outside. If you can't walk inside, just walking by the doors give you a refreshing breeze. All stores have the AC set to low temps, and it usually blows out of the door a little. Buy a hat or visor to keep the sun off of your face. And wear light clothes and sleeveless shirts. Buy a comfy pair of sandals. That way your feet don't sweat in sneakers. And during the hottest parts of the day, go back to your resort and relax, or spend that time in stores shopping. And make sure to drink a lot of water!

Have a great time in WDW!!

The best tip i can give is to go back to your resort after lunch and then return to the parks early evening.

Walmart also has some mini mister fans...they are about the size of a deck of cards. They're like little squirt guns with fans attached to the end. We used these when we went to WDW last month and they worked like a charm. They'r not so big and heavy as the other ones.

I would love to -but we arent the type to hang by the pool-unfortunately we are on the go people...vacation is just as crazy as our regular lives!!!
It would be nice to sit by the pool just once...but it will never happen...
