How do you go about registering hotel rooms, tickets, and the dining plan?

How do I go about registering a room, tickets, and the dining plan for my friends? My friend wants to visit me for a weekend while she's in Florida this summer during my CP. I know that I can give her 50% off of the hotel stay if I stay with her for the weekend. I know that I can't do anything yet because I haven't started my internship, but I was just curious as to how I would give her and my other friends a discount on the hotel, tickets, and the dining plan.

THanks for your help!

The way that you would do that is once you start your internship, you will be registered for the HUB and you will want to make the reservation for her that way.

You would call the WDW Cast number (available on the Hub) to book a room + dining plan. You must book the dining plan with the room for every guest if you want to add that option. It may be different for various promotions, but I already had a hotel room and wanted to add the dining plan. I called the Cast number to add it, and she actually had to rebook my reservation--the only reason I was able to get the cheaper dining plan was because another room was available for me to rebook to. Just remember that when you get down here!

The tickets (other than the Maingate and Winter promotion) aren't very discounted, so your friends might actually find a better price looking for other coupons/deals.

Two quick questions...

During my PI if my father were to stay in a hotel and get the Dining Plan and I wanted to stay in the hotel with him...would I be forced to get a dining plan? I wanted to stay in the hotel and have my own room key so I could attend extra magic hours with him and have access to the resort/room but I do not want a dining plan.

Secondly, about how much of a discount do we get on the dining plans?

Thanks for all the help!! :)

Yes. Everyone in the room must have the dining plan, unfortunately. Since you have to book through the cast number, chances are you couldn't get around it. Some people who go down on vacation can get around it, but they do things at the hotel. You can't get that discount at the hotel. Maybe if he paid full price you could, but that's something you would have to call and ask about.

It honestly depends. I got the quick service for $16.99 per night. I know the regular DP was being offered for $20.99 (or $22.99, something like that) but you don't automatically get it when you ask for it. It's based on availability and I'm assuming the amount of people who have already elected for the discount. I've also seen the price at $24.99, so it definitely varies, although most of the time, there is no discount. It's really only specific months/time periods. So, unlike hotel discounts it varies, it's not a set percentage, and it's often not available, so don't assume that it can be applied.

Wow am I glad to see this.... I have been tring to get this information.... my daughter will be in the Fall 2010 college program. We want to go visit her Nov 5-12... she doesn't arrive until the end of August though... I can't wait that long to book our flights... I need to do that now as the price will be to much if I wait... should I just book a room thru central reservations for now and then have her switch it to her discount once she gets there? I understand we might need to go to a different resort - that would be fine... also when do they find out about the discounts and how much they will be... I am an AP holder so I am wondering if my discount would be the same? thanks for any input you can offer....

I'm not sure you will be able to "switch over", if anything you could cancel your reservation and she could rebook with her discount. November isn't usually as popular as other months, so you may get lucky with the discount, but the accommodations are never guaranteed. The discounts usually only vary for the dining plan, which you can find out once you get access to the Hub at your first day of computer training at Disney University. For rooms, as it has been said many, many times on here, the discounts range between 40% (friends and family without you), 50% (friends and family with you), 60% (sometimes during various months)

I have no idea if your AP discount will be the same, but you might as well book it, because you may save money if the CM discount isn't available by the time she arrives.

Currently for CMs they are doing a special until 6/3 (I think) and you get 60% off (if you ar in the room) and 50% off (friends and family-if you aren't staying in the room) plus the DDP for $25.99.

My brother and I went in March (I'm a Seasonal CM) and we got 60% off and the discount ddp and it was very nice! In March we had the choice to get the QS DDP or the DDP but for the current promotion, it's just the regular DDP.

You have to call WDW CAST to book any package that includes the DDP and you can't always get the DDP if you book a friends/family room, although from Jan - June 2010 you are able to add the DDP for a friends/family room.

You can't just add the DDP to a Cast reservation unless they are offering a special with it since usually you have to get the DDP with a package including tickets.

When you are signed onto the HUB, you can just check WDW Resort Discounts and right on that page will give you a link as to if the DDP is offered and for what length of time.

If not, they will always offer at least 50% for you, 40% friends and family, and 30%-if the other 2 are booked already--off room only reservations. For busy holiday times, book early, there have been times where I had a hard time getting a resort reservation for a certain category-Value, Moderate, Deluxe, Villa.

I started my CP in Jan 2008 and my family came to visit mid Feb 2008 and I was able to get on in my first few days down there and book their resort for in Feb.

Basically, every time my fam would visit, I would stay with them. I got along with my CP roomie great and even my PI roomies (even though I had my own room in our townhouse), it's always nice to get away!!!

Good Luck!!!

My daughter has worked at Disney the last three years and I typically visit her that week in November. She has never had any trouble getting us a CM discounted room for that week and I don't usually pin my dates down until Sept or even Oct. To be safe you could get a reservation and cancel if she can get something better (which I bet she can since that week is part of the Holiday Discount time). I have an AP too and her discount is always a lot better than what I can get with the AP.

Once she has access to the HUB she can get on the tab that has the resort reservations and figure it all out.

Thanks everyone.... I really want to book our airfare as it can get really expensive flying out of central new york....

Thanks for the info! I'm coming to visit my DD this week and just thought I'd call and see if the Dining Plan was available, not expecting it to be, but it was! I was able to get the QS plan for $16/pp/pn - yay! It never hurts to call and ask!

Are there any blackout dates during the holidays when the discount isn't available for rooms at all? My family is planning to come visit for Christmas, and I'm just wondering if there are any dates when I could not possibly get them rooms, or if it will just be difficult.

Thanks so much!!

It's not like they have black out dates but there are times when there is not much available. We have done during Christmas and she has gotten us rooms but it is one of those deals when you have to start looking early to book and keep looking ... availability changes. Last year we stayed at Port Orleans, the year before All Stars. I want to say she got us the rooms in late summer/early fall since we usually don't pin down our plans before then.

sorry... but another questions... if our daughter books the room and is able to get the dining plan for us do we also have to buy tickets thru her... like you do when you book with Disney... they make you buy a package... with at least a one day ticket..... we have a ton of left over one day tickets and I am an annual passholder so we won't need tickets....
thanks...

No. When I got the dining plan, I didn't need to buy tickets. Just the room and dining must be done at the same time (or that's what I was told/had to do)
