I'm honestly in a bad bad mood and I am never in a bad mood. I've had days where I've been blue or melancholy or maybe "reflective", but today I'm pretty angry about some stuff at home and I'm in a Baadddd Moood.

So, how do you get out of a bad mood. I'm going for a long, fast walk at lunch and I'm planning some retail therapy, but this is so rare for me that I don't know how else to get out of this bad mood.

I am happy that it's only six months to the cruise, but that's actually doing very little to take this scowl off my face.

Go and put a Disney movie on, either that or a vacation planning DVD!!!!! Works for me:)

You mean thinking of the Podcast Cruise still doesn't help!!!??? Shocking! Taking a line from a previous thread....What about thinking of Kevin doing jump rope...Does that help? :)

Typically, what I do to get out of a bad mood is sleep. Out of sight and out of mind is usually good for everyone when your in a bad mood. :wizard:

When I'm in a funk I either curl up with a book or put the iTouch on (Harry Connick Jr. does wonders for my mood) and ignore the world for a bit. Doing the wii boxing also helps but that doesn't help at work and nobody will volunteer to be my punching bag at work. ;)

It honestly depends.

If there is a focus to your bad mood, some specific reason why such as a boss giving you a hard time, then some good old fashioned "punch therapy" wirks well, take out your frustrations on a bean bag and pretend it's the focus of your mood.

If however you just woke up in a mood, it's harder. The simplest thing is to do things that usually cheer you up or make you feel good.

The biggest thing is to avoid taking it out on innocent people that cross your path, or if you can't try and avoid people.

Well, that's my .02 cents...

Yes, I'm totally in avoidance mode right now. I would never take it out on the innocent. I really hate it when that happens to me, so I'd never do that!

There is a main focus to bad mood and I'm trying to work out a solution, but I'm pretty peeved about being put in this position to begin with. It's not something I should have to deal with at this point in my life. Arrrgghh! It's not job related. Thankfully my job is a peaceful refuge at this point.

I only have one word for you. CAKE!!!! :cake:

It isn't good for your waist line but does wonders for a bad mood. :yay:

I clean. If I can't clean something, then I look for a project that needs clearing up or some such thing. I tend to look for something tanglible that can be accomplished the way I want it done. That usually helps.
When retail therapy isn't an option at least.

eh, two things...

take a melatonin at bed time, this will help you sleep deeper

and sit next to and/or under, above avg bright lights for breakfast when you wake up. Eating breakfast signals your body it is morning, as does the bright light... this does not mean sit under a sun lamp even though that helps as well, but a brightly lit room. Get some full spectrum bulbs from Menards for the lights in the bathroom and the kitchen. after a week, you will not be so pissy. oh, and have lots of $** (rhymes with Rex)

I think Tonya has it right.
Step #1: Find :cake:.
Step #2: Covet :cake:.
Step #3: Revel in the glory of :cake:.
Step #4: Eat :cake:.
Step #5: Go powerwalk off all the frustration and calories from :cake:.

(Oh, and remember your DIS family is never too far away.)

DIS Radio is less fattening than cake. ;)
Musical favorites are always good, whether it's mood music like Mary Chapin Carpenter or Enya (good on a cloudy day) or get-into-a-different-mood music like ABBA, "I Wanna Be Just Like You" (Louie Prima), Broadway faves like "Popular" from Wicked or anything from Avenue Q.....

I'd also recommend something silly and pointless. Light a fart. :lmao:

And, as others have said... we're here. :grouphug:

Cleaning usually works good for me too. Cleaning and avoidance. I don't talk when in a bad mood.

I woke up to snow this morning...snow that is actually sticking and accumulating, which put me in an immediate bad mood. (it's too early!) I cleaned out the space under my kitchen sink and mopped the floor with PineSol (for some reason, the smell of PineSol always improves my mood a little)

If you are a fan of 80's music the soundtrack to "The Wedding Singer" is full of great sing-alongs. :mic:

A good silly movie (like "The Waterboy") is a good way to escape. "My momma said that alligators are so honery because de got of dem teeth". (love that movie!!!!!)

Gotta be careful to make sure that you are careful with the lighting because burns in the nether regions could cause more grumpiness.

Christmas music always does it for me. It can be June and a good Rockin Around the Christmas Tree or Jingle Bell Rock will lighten any mood!!

:lmao: Sounds like someone knows from first hand experience.:lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

Thanks for the advice. About the fart lighting, well my brother did that many years ago and has been "known" for it ever since! I'm not sure I want that reputation... :lmao:

If anything, y'all really made me smile a couple times today. I just need to put my big girl pants on, take charge of the situation, and be done with it. I think I'm more mad at myself than anything else and I'm mad that I didn't say what I really should have said. I really hate feeling taken advantage or made a fool of.

When all else fails, I go to Netflix and add Jeff Dunham to my Queue. He should be here tomorrow! I really wish he were coming over with Peanut, but you can't have it all...

I love Jeff Dunham!!! I made the mistake of watching Achmed at work and giggled so much I ended up having an audience around my monitor, lol. He is too funny! A jalapeno on a stiiiiiick!

OMG! I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE Jeff Dunham!!!! He is absolutely hilarious! Peanut and Walter are my favorites! I love the show with Walter, where the guy in the audience leaves to go to the bathroom. :rotfl2:

:lmao: Everybody at my job loves Jeff. My ex boss is from Puerto Rico--he has an uncle named "Chick"(hince the latino humor which my boss loved). So for weeks he was "uncle cheeeek on a stiiiiick!" Hahhaha--There is a Christmas Special coming on Comedy Central later this week. It looks great! I hope you feel better soon.:rotfl2:

In the words of Yoda " Try not--do--or do not--there is no try". Yes my BIL owns the T-shirt--from Tatooin(sp?) Traders.:rotfl:
