When we stayed at AKL this last December, the CM scheduling wake-up calls would not allow us to schedule it at an odd time. I even tried to do it with the automated service first, and it kept bouncing me to a CM. I too was told the system did not work that way, and it was not possible to do it.
Although, now that I think about it, on the very first day I was there, a CM did schedule it for an odd time and acted like it wasn't a problem at all. But all the other CM's for the rest of my trip acted like it was an impossibility.
When I used the automated service to schedule a wake-up call on the hour (or even the quarter hour), it went off without a hitch. But not so for the odd times. I was always bounced to a CM. And when I was bounced to the CM, he or she was of no help.
Also, all I ever heard was music for my entire stay. I stayed on the phone for maybe a minute, and all I heard was music. I asked a wake-up-call CM about it, and she said that some resorts had chosen to go with a more adult wake-up service and music was what they were offering. I tried every day of a 10-day stay (my heart wouldn't let me give up), and I was so disappointed to only get music.
When I came back to the disboards, I found out that if I had held onto the phone for a couple of minutes, I would have heard Stitch and then Mickey. I wish I had tried that.
I don't know what that CM was talking about when she said some resorts had chosen a more adult wake-up call. I hope she was just grasping at straws to give me a reason, and that it's not really true. She only told me that after my fourth or fifth call one morning, so it could be she just wanted to get the crazy guest off the phone. In retrospect, I was scheduling multiple wake-up calls every morning, trying to hear Mickey's voice. They probably thought I had gone off the deep end. But it is just such a part of the magic for me! LOL
We have always had wake-up calls on our Disney trips. It used to be just Mickey. And then once the movie Lilo and Stitch opened, it was always Stitch first and then Mickey would get on the phone to rescue us from Stitch. At first, I didn't like that. But then Stitch grew on me. And once I really listened to what was happening in the wake-up call, it was kind of cute. Stitch would scream in my ear to wake me up, and then Mickey would apologize for Stitch's behavior. I like it!
I really did miss that magic in December. I was so bummed. But next trip, I am going to hold on to the phone for a long time and see if their voices start after listening to a little music.
